We are looking for a Strategic Program Manager to join our Product, Commercial & Marketing Legal team. You will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives that execute on how the team and broader Legal department support its business partners and company-wide objectives.  These initiatives will involve creating, managing, and improving operational processes that may cut across the entire Legal department and drive alignment with other functions across the company.  In addition to ongoing projects, you will have the opportunity to identify, manage and drive the execution of new initiatives intended to allow the team to operate more efficiently. You are resourceful, a fast learner, able to handle ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This role will report to the Deputy General Counsel, Product, Commercial & Marketing but will have responsibility for supporting various members across the entire team.

Responsibilities:

  • Structure and lead execution of initiatives, develop implementation plans, governance models, communication plans, and provide overall project management leadership to drive completion and success.
  • Build relationships with both business stakeholders and the broader Legal team in order to develop and drive improvements requiring their support.
  • Develop and improve processes to help drive operational efficiency, including processes for legal review, decision-making, intake and other ways in which the team supports its business partners
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Planning & Execution team, and other business partners to drive standardization and efficiency in Legal’s support of the business.
  • Program manage Legal’s support of significant workstreams of company-wide product releases including:
  • Be accountable for multiple workstreams by aligning and influencing relevant stakeholders across Legal department; when necessary raise risks to appropriate leaders, forums and facilitate decision-making
  • Report workstream status and team performance across all workstreams
  • Facilitate regular program meetings. Ensure right stakeholders and cross-functional team members are involved, document decisions and actions items, and follow up with owners on commitments
  • Identify and predict obstacles, collisions, and risk to projects across multiple teams and seek solutions to eliminate them
  • Balance competing priorities and adjust resources as necessary
  • Act as a connector between teams to facilitate their work

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of project/program management experience
  • Proactive, resourceful self-starter with the ability to work independently while exercising good judgment on when to seek guidance from managing attorneys and legal professionals
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills; strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills also a must
  • Entrepreneurial approach to identifying needs, solving problems, anticipating issues and developing solutions
  • Passion for trying, learning, improving, and sharing best practices
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to work positively with cross-functional stakeholders and align them on common goals

Duties &  Responsibilities

  • Be part of a small but strong team who administers the company’s many equity programs for all employees in the U.S. and globally
  • Assist efforts to grow and scale the stock administration function, including but not limited to enhancing existing manual processes, automating processes and evaluating service providers
  • Be able to take ownership of assigned projects and complete them with the highest attention to detail
  • Build close relationships with the company’s Legal, Payroll, Talent, Financial Reporting, Tax, Communications and other teams, as necessary
  • Provide a superior level of customer service to employees, management and business partners
  • Support employee understanding of equity awards and Company programs and policies including building out new mediums to educate our employees
  • Continually striving to automate routine work streams and manual processes to enable efficient, accurate and timely processing of equity award data
  • Prepare custom reports within Certent and Excel, and perform complex reconciliations to review accuracy of equity and transaction data
  • Maintain supporting workbooks for internal/external SOX auditors and respond accurately, thoroughly and timely to auditor requests for data
  • Help build out processes to accurately and efficiently deliver stock-related sections of 10Qs, 10Ks and Proxy Statements
  • Perform complex mobility tax calculations
  • Perform other duties and ad hoc projects and reporting as requested

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Pre- and post- IPO experience highly desired
  • 5+ years of senior-level experience in administration of global equity programs
  • Minimum CEP Level II required
  • Expertise with global equity programs, multiple equity award types, and transaction volume
  • Experience working directly with Certent and Fidelity Stock Plans and other major third-party equity software systems and brokerage firms
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and internal/external partners
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Energy, enthusiasm and follow-up skills necessary to drive results

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the US & Canada Campaigns Director, Global Campaign Director, the Senior Vice President and global leadership to develop and implement Airbnb’s US Federal regulatory, legislative and public policy initiatives; including contextualizing global priorities, positions, and strategies.
  • Work with Airbnb Policy and Business leadership in EMEA, APAC, LATAM and China and at the nexus of the U.S. Administration Agencies, business and international governments to positively affect policies that impact Airbnb and the tourism industry and promote the values of Airbnb.
  • Advocate on key priorities before the US Congress, the Administration, and other federal agencies on corporate issues.
  • Manage strategic engagements with national partners including trade associations, industry peers, and policy and political advocacy groups to ensure the success of Airbnb’s overall business, community and mission.
  • Committed people leader who invests in the professional growth of team members
  • Represent Airbnb in high-level coalitions and organizations to advance Airbnb’s advocacy initiatives.
  • Direct research, writing and other activities to provide analysis and critical thinking on policy (and political) developments affecting Airbnb’s priorities.

Requirements

  • Degree or advanced degree level in related field
  • Broad policy experience and preferably direct knowledge in one or more of the following fields: Internet, Tourism sector regulations, housing or landlord/tenant law
  • Extensive knowledge of the US federal political and regulatory environments
  • At least 15 years experience working in politics, government, regulator, or relevant business or non-governmental organization (a mix of public and private sector experience is an advantage)
