What You Will Do

Provide advanced life support for critically ill/injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the transport team.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility as part of the transport team in collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse.
  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
  • Contact receiving medical personnel, report observations and follow directives.
  • Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
  • May be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies.

What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Advanced Life Support obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. (ACLS)
  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Drivers License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Emergency Medical Tech specializing in ER Vehicle Operation credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. (EVOC), or (CEVO) credentialed from Coaching Systems required.

One or more of the following required:

HEAD & NECK PROGRESSIVE UNIT CONSISTS OF 10 BEDS AND A NURSE TO PATIENT RATIO OF 1:2 OR 1:3

Join our team of highly skilled & dedicated nurses on our Surgical Oncology and Head & Neck Progressive units.  Our surgical oncology team cares for a wide range of cancer patients, both with respect to diagnoses and age.  Our patient population is almost exclusively postoperative.  Our staff provide care and compassion to an extremely acute patient population who are in the early stages of their cancer fight.

Surgical Oncology is a unique and amazing place to work because it is one of the only places where you can care for patients at almost any stage of life. We have some very high risk pregnant patients and ensure they have access to immediate medical attention at any time. We’ve taken care of individuals of all ages due to the special nature of the surgeries. We also are there to help as people transition to the end of their lives and help to make that process as calm and peaceful as possible.

This unit allows for nurses of any experience level to see a unique patient population that is not seen anywhere else. Our unit provides a place for nurses to build strong technical skills with devices and get plenty of hands on experience.

The staff on this unit is friendly and welcoming. When we have nurses from resource or those who have floated from other units they often remark on how kind and helpful everyone is.
