We are looking for an Account Director to join Edge, the Data, Insights and Advisory solution you need to win in an eCommerce-driven world.  The role will be within our North America Customer Growth team with the ideal candidate to be based out of our Boston, MA office.  You will be responsible for managing and growing revenue for a set of existing customers within our Strategic Accounts segment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of key relationships within major brand/manufacturer customers
  • Commercial responsibilities for renewals and selling of additional product/advisory solutions
  • Communication within internal departments tied to customer delivery
  • Revenue Target Performance against Renewals, New Product Sales, and Advisory Services

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required

  • 6+ years account management or sales experience
  • 4+ years professional experience in acct management / selling analytics or consulting in the Consumer Packaged Goods / Retailer space
  • Familiarity working with large, complex enterprise customers
  • Background in eCommerce, SaaS solutions, and/or working with brand/manufacturers.
  • Effective communication skills both internally and externally
  • Exhibit strong account management and governance capabilities
  • Proven history of quota attainment on monthly, quarterly, and annual bookings.
  • Ability to build sales pipeline and accurately forecast revenue on monthly and quarterly basis
  • Capable in identifying customer challenges and connecting them to product/service solution.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Excel, and Powerpoint

Key Responsibilities

During the set-up and deployment phase for an Enterprise client, you will be:

  • Working alongside the Customer Success Partner and the Insight Manager to confirm the SOW, filling in any gaps and managing expectations with the client
  • Working closely with the Operations teams to secure resources and appropriate scheduling against the agreed SOW
  • Planning, scheduling and week on week, workload management and priority setting for assigned Data Analysts responsible for the software deployment
  • Ensuring deployment is in line with SOW scope and working closely with Data Analysts to ensure quality standards have been met pre-release to the client
  • Managing timely and accurate receipt of inputs from the customer in line with timeframes agreed in project plan
  • Reporting weekly status to client and Edge management
  • Acting as the key point of contact for the client, making appropriate judgement calls on escalations as required & quickly engaging the appropriate resources/functions for successful resolution
  • Facilitating a smooth transition to the Edge delivery and support teams for ongoing maintenance of the client subscription

As the client platform is deployed and the subscription matures:

  • Working closely with our Insights group to ensure product training needs are met as per SOW. Ensuring additional training and enablement needs are captured and our business consultancy services team are engaged at the appropriate times
  • Capturing custom requirements/enhancements from the client and feeding these into our product management & engineering teams.
  • Implementing & driving adherence to a robust governance structure for decision making, priority calls and client led change requests so that these are scheduled & prioritised as custom or worked via the product roadmap.  Reporting on these & ensuring visibility & clear communication both internally and externally to the client so that expectations are aligned.
  • Reporting weekly status to client, the Customer Success Partner, and Edge management & making appropriate judgement calls on escalations as required

Post-deployment phase you will continue as a key point of contact for the client, supporting special projects as their needs mature.  Depending on capacity and the size and maturity stage of the customer, you may run a number of programs or a combination of programs and projects in parallel. On an ongoing basis you will be the person who will:

  • Advocate for the client internally as needed
  • Drive Monthly Business Reviews with a keen eye to ongoing client success
  • Provide relevant technical recommendations, guidance and planning on configuration and integrations specifics to fit customers’ business needs
  • Maintain oversight across functions (set up, delivery, support, training, product management) to ensure execution and appropriate levels of support are in place. Proactive liaison and focal point into Edge Operations, Technical Support, Engineering and Product Management Teams, to address product feature/technical hurdles
  • Proactively communicate to customers of software or algorithm changes or potential disruptions to their service and advise on mitigation strategies
  • Provide proactive Communications in the event of a service degradation or disruption including escalation management

Your Experience

  • BA/BS Degree (or equivalent)
  • Relevant work experience in one or more of the following: Technology Consulting, Customer Success, Technology Solutions Development or Solutions Architecture, Technology Project Delivery
  • Experience in dealing with large, tier one customers in a SAAS company
  • Project and Program Management experience
  • Proven ability to manage remote teams in a highly complex environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and perform effectively under pressure
  • Aptitude for both analyzing technical concepts and translating them into business terms, and for mapping business requirements into technical features

About You

You are an experienced project, program or customer success manager, ideally with a formal project management certification, c.10 years’ experience, and a client facing background. You have a strong academic and career history, you do not need a software development background, but you are very familiar with the SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies, are interested in technology, comfortable with using a variety of applications, and may have experience of data analysis tools.

You are likely to be working vendor side in a client facing role or held a similar position in the past.  You are commercially minded, have led successful teams in the past, you are comfortable and confident interacting with senior executives and you love working directly with clients. You are super organized and have a strong track record on execution – you get stuff done!  You are a great communicator with a can-do attitude and may have a background in e-commerce, marketing insights, data or CPG but we’re interested in people from all industries.

You are mature and confident with the ability to judge a situation quickly and accurately and respond appropriately. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up culture where flexibility and the ability to wear several hats are valued.  In advocating for the customer internally you will need to be a strong influencer who can drive performance within functions and with colleagues that may not have a direct reporting line to you. You are hands-on and detail oriented and have proven your ability to develop successful and lasting relationships with colleagues and clients. You have experience managing direct reports, mentoring and supporting them. In short, you are the leader of the team; the voice of the client within the organization and the Edge representative to the client.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Health & Governance:

  • You provide thought leadership on governance structures & engagement frameworks for each of your customers to stabilise & maintain customer health
  • Oversight across x-functional partners (Product, Ops, Insights, PM), to ensure best practices are deployed in all functions touching the customer. Where you find gaps, initiating specific plans to address and drive accountability within the account team and supporting functions
  • Internal Account planning & risk forecasting – create SMART goals for each of your owned accounts; tracking of all risk indicators across products and regions; regular, meaningful communication and reporting of customer health status and GAM customer dataset to internal leadership.

Trusted Partnership & Deep Understanding of Customers

  • Effective and confident operating with exec/C level customer stakeholders. You initiate & engage in joint business planning with customers to understand very precisely how they are measuring success/ROI/justifying budget for their Edge investments. Regularly and formally assessing how Edge are performing against these criteria to anticipate and communicate churn risk to the internal account team and Edge leadership
  • Achieve Trusted Advisor status with customer & reputation for high standards & follow through coupled with fairness & collaborative approach. Customer relationships should be happy AND productive.
  • Advocate directly on the customer’s behalf to hold internal partners & vendors to account for effective, high quality service delivery – by fair and reasonable standards. Aligning & documenting expectations, measuring against those, your escalations are supported by data & proposed solutions

Protect Customer Health and Retain ARR

  • You have strong commercial awareness and savvy. On your assigned accounts you are intimately familiar with the commercial terms, scope, renewal dates and values across all products, aware of and able to articulate how you are actively managing any identified commercial risk
  • You partner with the Global Account Manager in executing renewals, driving continuous improvement, always considering ways in which we can make the renewal process less onerous, less time pressured, less risk prone, more automated, more scalable etc for the upcoming renewal period.

Your Experience

  • Degree qualified, masters or MBA a plus. Recognised PM or CS certification desirable
  • Successful background in Customer Success, Program Management, Professional Services and/or Account Management roles in a product/service subscription model business
  • Min 10 years client facing experience, working with Enterprise level customers – ideally in the CPG sector. Experience operating at senior/C level and presenting, negotiating, managing expectations and communicating at this level with budget holders, sponsors and product owners
  • For internal candidates: you have successfully performed a full stack Program Manager, Customer Growth, Senior IM or similar role on complex/enterprise accounts and can demonstrate product expertise and best practice at the activation and delivery level for Digital Shelf and Market Share products. Customer health/renewals experience
  • For external candidates proven deep product knowledge in complex high touch SAAS products (not plug and play or consumption based) & proven capability to ramp up and apply same in this role
  • Account planning, forecasting and renewals experience. Managing an enterprise book of business within a product/service subscription model with a high renewal success rate
  • Leadership experience – not necessarily as a line manager but leading project or account teams to successful outcomes. Using best practice and judgement to provide coaching, direction, leadership by example and direct intervention as required.
  • CPG, eCommerce domain credibility desirable

Tools Experience

  • SF.com experience desirable
  • Highly competent with Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) or Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
