WHAT YOU’LL DO

The IT Finance Senior Business Analyst (Operations Engineer) is a position within BCG’s Agile Finance Tribe. Overall, the Finance Tribe is responsible for all digital products used by the Global Finance and Procurement functions. The responsibilities of the team include enabling efficient processes within the Global Functions; developing, enhancing and integrating applications used by the Global Functions; and supporting the application user audience to optimize the management of the business. As part of team, this role will focus on supporting systems and processes for Finance and Procurement and will act as a bridge between those functions and the IT organization.

To be successful, this individual must have proven experience working as a team member in a similar system portfolio role supporting and implementing applications and communicating with a global end user community.
IT Finance Sr. Business Analyst is ultimately responsible for developing a subject matter expertise in a cluster of Finance applications and becoming an integrated support person bridging between MasterChef Transformation team and Finance Teams. Effectively executing this will require the IT Finance Sr. Business Analyst to:

  • Work directly with the Finance System product owners (PO) and Finance in America, Europe and Asia Pacific to understand system issues and collect input on future changes. Provide direct application support for SAP S4 Hana Cloud modules and extended applications.
  • Work with the Finance Product Squads to track, manage and help implement application changes either in the form of support fixes or system improvements via Service Now & JIRA tools.
  • Actively monitor and resolve user support issues, working closely with the Finance Functional Teams/Project Teams and other squads
  • Assist in answering end user procedural and system questions
  • Manage and implement application configurations and/or administrative setup configurations in the application as required.
  • Document requirements in form Users Stories for change requirements
  • Document System SOP’s/Configuration Document and Knowledge based articles which operations team can leverage.

YOU’RE GOOD AT

  • Be the voice of the customer, advocate on behalf of our user base to increase their experience and satisfaction with the Finance applications
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the Finance system application portfolio, including functional and technical dependencies between systems
  • Good working exposure on Service now (ITIL) , JIRA.
  • Have working knowledge of Agile processes and managing/working with Agile teams- specifically knowledge of using JIRA, Agile with both Kanban and Scrum methodologies
  • Have overall responsibility for the health of the core Finance applications, in terms of quality of operational effectiveness from a functional & technical standpoint
  • Ability to write clear user stories and communicate the same to product owner/teams.
  • Must be able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, service-oriented environment

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

Education or Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Accounting or Finance, Master’s in IT/technology or MBA (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience supporting or implementing financial applications
  • Experience at BCG or other global, professional services firm in a Business Analyst role preferred
  • Proven ability of working in challenging technical, customized and packaged software.
  • Excellent Communication and Stakeholder Management Skills

Functional /Technical Skills

  • Experience working with cloud-based financial or operations platforms including a basic understanding of integrations.
  • Understanding for Financial Accounting Systems like General Ledger, Payables, Receivables and extensions
  • Understanding for Financial ERP platforms and integrations of sub-ledger systems like SAP S4 Hana etc.
  • Ability to develop a detailed understanding of Finance system functionality in order to serve as a subject matter expert within the team.
  • Maintaining SAP security and authorization policies and procedures
  • Creating and maintaining user accounts and profiles
  • Assigning and managing access privileges for SAP users
  • Monitoring system activity to identify and address security issues
  • Conducting security assessments and identifying areas for improvement
  • Troubleshooting security-related issues and working with SAP system administrators to resolve them
  • Developing and implementing security best practices and guidelines
  • Balance of strong business process knowledge and technical system knowledge
  • Prior experience working with 3rd party application vendors and consulting vendor agencies
  • Demonstrated experience resolving complex business and application problems
  • Providing guidance and support to SAP system administrators and business users on security-related issues

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with large enterprise applications (e.g. SAP S4 Hana On-Premise or Cloud)

YOU’LL WORK WITH

The IT Finance Senior Business Analyst role is an integral role in the overall Finance Systems Operations team organizational strategy responsible for supporting one or more Finance System applications. This role will work closely with Finance tribe Product Owners and Analysts counterparts in America, Europe and Asia Pacific. You will work in Agile fashion and report directly to the IT Finance Manager located in India.

The position is a member of the Global Investments, Consolidations, Accounting and Reporting (“GICAR”) team under the direction of the Global Accounting Director. The GICAR team is part of a broader team, the Global Accounting and Control (“GAC”) team that is under the direction of the Global Finance Director & Corporate Controller. The GAC team has various responsibilities including consolidating and reporting BCG’s financial information on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. In addition, GAC is responsible for establishing and communicating various accounting policies and procedures globally. The team is responsible for the dissemination of meaningful and accurate financial information on a consolidated basis, as well as on an individual affiliate office basis.
The position is a highly visible role within the global finance organization. The position is responsible for the accounting and reporting of BCG’s external consolidated financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and internal management reporting. The position will focus on preparation and review of the global consolidated financial statements, internal management reporting and forecasting, technical accounting areas including marketable securities and minority investments, and other various accounting/reporting tasks. The position will also be responsibility for assisting the GAC Director, GAC Senior Manager, GAC Managers and other key stakeholders within GAC on several ad-hoc requests/analyses from senior leadership as well as assist with complex global technical accounting matters under US GAAP and IFRS.

The candidate will be a critical resource for the GAC Director as well as leaders within GAC including GICAR, Managing Director and Partner (“MDP”) Accounting, and Revenue Accounting. The candidate with also work closely with teams within other functions in Global Finance including Tax, Treasury, Financial Systems, Global Field Operations and Financial Planning & Analysis.

YOU’RE GOOD AT

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of BCG’s financial reporting including the consolidated US GAAP financial statements, as well as key performance metrics and business drivers
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated US GAAP financial statements including coordination with various cross-functional teams to ensure timely preparation
  • Manage the annual audit process including coordination with external auditors to provide audit support documentation and technical accounting memos on complex transactions
  • Perform centralized monthly & quarterly compliance checks for US GAAP & Other Income/Expense reporting
  • Prepare quarterly global fluctuation analyses and reporting packages
  • Review affiliate entity financial statements requiring global director approval
  • Review of affiliate office monthly reporting packages to ensure compliance with BCG’s accounting policies; analyze actual results compared to forecasts and prior year results
  • Build strong working relationships with the local office finance teams by providing decision support on a variety of accounting and reporting issues
  • Review and tracking of reconciliations received from affiliate offices
  • Preparation of other income and expense reconciliations and forecasting
  • Create, document, and implement internal accounting policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and streamlining in existing activities, make recommendations on improvements and lead implementation
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and reporting processes for BCG’s portfolio of marketable securities
  • Preparation of consolidated investment disclosures in the annual consolidated US GAAP financial statements
  • Assist with forecasting of investment gains/losses for other income and expense reporting
  • Develop deep knowledge of investment accounting topics and become the global subject matter specialist on these topics; prepare and deliver related training to the global finance community

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • 3-6 years of accounting-related work experience, including experience with US GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required,
  • CPA status required, MBA is a plus
  • Previous experience working in a major public accounting firm is preferred
  • Previous working experience at a large multinational company within a multi-currency environment, where foreign operations represent a significant portion of consolidated results
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, especially in the areas of investments (marketable securities and minority investments)
  • The ability to operate at a “high level” as well as a “detailed level”
  • Sound analytical and reporting skills; ability to understand complicated topics, apply critical thinking, apply judgment, and make decisions
  • Good management judgment, flexibility, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable interacting with peer group, senior leadership, and third-party service providers
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple changing priorities along with day-to-day responsibilities
  • Strong work ethics, professional attitude, and reliability
  • Experience using Oracle based accounting systems including Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Oracle 12R, Oracle Smart View and Oracle Financials is a plus. Knowledge of SAP Business Objects or other comparable systems is a plus
  • Advanced computer literacy (use of Windows and corresponding software applications including PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • Experience with advanced data analysis/reporting tools a huge plus (i.e., Tableau, Alteryx, Python, etc.)
  • Travel may be required occasionally
