Full Job Description

This position will be responsible for all food and nutrition functions of Bean’s Cafe, Inc. The Operations Manager, at Food Services, will ensure the kitchen/nutrition services are delivered successfully, safely, and to the highest degree possible of value to Bean’s Cafe, Inc.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

  • Oversees the food services departmental staff.
  • Assigns, plans, and oversees the work of the food services food programs.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding of new staff for the Food Services department.

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Works with the Chief Operating Officer to determine the mission, purpose, and priorities of the organization.
  • Plan, organize, and direct Bean’s Cafe food service and nutritional programs.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and laws.
  • Directs the selection, procurement, and acquisition of foods and supplies, and coordinates and checks for proper storage and efficient use.
  • Assists in the development and preparation of the annual budget for food services operations and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder communications for food/supply procurement in traditional and non-traditional markets.
  • Provide standards of quantity, quality, and nutrition of the food served.
  • Enhance efficiency, productivity, and morale of volunteers, clients, and staff.
  • Commercial kitchen management and upholding licensing, safety, and nutritional standards.
  • Manages congregate food sites and distribution.
  • Consistent communication with senior management communicating timely, detailed, and accurate reports.
  • Managing kitchen facilities and maintenance.
  • Managing accurate inventory control of equipment.
  • Assists in coordinating the phasing in/out of kitchen equipment throughout the organization.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Ability to understand the mission of Bean’s Cafe, Inc. and operationalize the goals and mission.

Education and Experience: 

  • Completion of professional certification in Culinary Arts, or relevant experience.
  • ServSafe Certification Manager.
  • Proven experience as a Program Director or other similar management capacity.

  • At least five years of management experience and highly skilled in food preparation.

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Must be able to climb stairs.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground up.

  • Must be able to work with background distractions.

  • Must have a normal range of hearing and vision with or without correction.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time without needing assistance; and

  • Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, and stop to access information and materials.
