Full Job Description

Real Estate Lending – Responsible for originating, underwriting, closing and monitoring of large, moderately-complex real estate loans and tax credit equity investments with moderate risk. Responsible for all Real Estate Lending loan components including origination, underwriting and closing for larger loans and equity investments of moderate complexity. Monitors existing loan and investment portfolios, including loan reviews and site visits. Manages existing accounts and client relationships for revenue accounts of moderate risk and complexity. Develops opportunities based on research and prospecting for new clients. Solves unusual problems that are of moderate risk in nature. Resolves problems escalated by more junior staff. Cross-sells bank products and services. Generates new business opportunities for the bank such as new loans and related fees. No direct reports. Provides guidance to more junior staff. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Bachelors degree in finance or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MBA is preferred.7-10 years of total work experience preferred. Experience in real estate lending or commercial banking preferred.

In order to strengthen an Enterprise-wide approach to Program Delivery and establish a scalable resilient operating model that builds delivery capabilities across Technology, Operations, the lines of business and support functions, BNY Mellon has evolved how we deliver programs of change across the bank. As part of this strategy, a new ECO has been created to provide central oversight, governance, and strategic execution.  The ECO establishes policy and performs a governance function with select enterprise program delivery accountability founded on a federated model that partners with the program delivery teams from Technology, Operations, the lines of business and other functional areas across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and provides innovative direction and guidance for a wide array of activities associated with program planning and management to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and to client specifications.
  • Responsible for the overall success of programs and projects.
  • Leads end to end program and project management activities such as reporting, planning, issue / risk tracking, work breakdown structures, scheduling effort estimation and tracking, other project documentation preparation and turnover to production.
  • Ensures work is performed within the program and project management policies, standards, procedures and frameworks with established tools and techniques routinely used for program and project management.
  • Measures and monitors program actuals, forecasts and budgets and updates plans with accurate, up-to-date information in a timely manner.
  • Follows financial standards & processes (e.g. monthly external revenue accruals, software capitalization, procurement & external payments).
  • Reports financial information and status to the required executive level through steering committees.
  • Secures, leads, motivates and inspires the internal & external resources required to deliver the program.
  • Establishes the program’s governance (e.g. sponsors, approvers, stakeholders).
  • Manages Program Resources.
  • May have leadership responsibility for Program Team members.
  • Serves as a liaison between clients and internal groups to ensure delivery of programs and projects on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Has regular contact among peers within the firm and externally, including regulators and professional organizations.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business management or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or Prince2 certification is beneficial.
  • 12+ years of related program and/or project management experience required.
  • Experience with operations, technology and/or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Client Onboarding/Transitions/Conversions – IC2 Under moderate direction, onboards clients, opens and closes accounts and handles transitions and conversions to the system. Analyzes, reconciles and reviews incoming or outgoing data for accurate transition to platform. Obtains and reviews the appropriate documentation and reference data, and ensures regulatory aspects of AML and KYC are completed prior to opening accounts. Prepares clients for entering new accounts by explaining and articulating the level of documentation required, regulations, complexities in the market and market expectations. Works directly with clients to open new accounts once due diligence on KYC and AML has been completed and works with client and internal parties around asset events. Closes off accounts by first checking for any pending activity or balances remaining in the account. Works directly with clients to access documentation requirements and reference data, and may be responsible for onsite client support and training to assist with documentation, quality review and submission of documents. Ensures application form is received and tax documentation is received from the investor. Leads project management activities for onboarding/transitions/conversions such as reporting, planning, issue / risk tracking, scheduling, effort estimation and tracking, and other project documentation preparation. Ensures client receives all necessary training or conducts the training him/herself. Communicates progress to team and escalate issues or potential project delays. Supports conversion activities related to a mix of complex institutional client relationships requiring an in-depth understanding of custody and accounting processing activities. Completes an accurate conversion of data on financial statements for daily, weekly, or monthly valuation clients. Support and review control reports to effectively mitigate risks and resolve problems that arise during the conversion process. Assists with coordinating firm-wide resources (product, technology, marketing, compliance, teams, etc.) to ensure client needs are being addressed. Ensures onboarding/transition/conversion activities meet all compliance, legal and regulatory requirements. May participate in UAT, on boarding and fault resolution. Responsible for overall success of less complex or small transitions, ensuring client satisfaction through the monitoring of project quality and efficiency as well as the direct client experience. Guides the client in appropriate platform applications and structure of their program/product offering. No direct reports. Provides guidance to less experienced colleagues as needed. Allocates work to and monitors the work quality of others assigned to the client. May have people management responsibilities in some geographies. Responsible for standard clients and contributes to the achievement of team objectives.
