Job Description

Cerner’s UX team is looking for a Senior Human Factors Researcher. Human Factors Researchers assist internal development teams on user interface design and usability through application of human factors principles, standards, and methodology to identify and mitigate design induced end-user performance issues. In this role you’ll be responsible for understanding the vision of Cerner domains and using this knowledge to communicate user research findings to engineering and solution owners. You’ll be responsible for collaborating with other members of the User Experience team to solve complex design challenges and understand the end-user requirements at each stage of the development process. You’ll conduct quantitative and qualitative usability research studies in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, acceptability, training impact, and error tolerance for a project. You’ll interpret and analyze the results of usability research to validate the success of a design based on established usability goals and common heuristics. You’ll present and communicate your usability research findings to project teams and stakeholders. As a Human Factors Researcher, you will help to define participant requirements for human factors researcher studies, advise internal development teams on user interface design and usability, and facilitate the most effective method to elicit and represent user-centered design across all Intellectual Property domains.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of total combined related work experience and completed higher education, including:
    • At least 2 years of user experience design work experience
    • At least 6 years of additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education, including:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction or related field

For more than 20 years, Cerner Kids has supported Cerner’s mission and vision by providing a nurturing educational environment, exclusively for children of Cerner associates. The Montessori philosophy guides our programming, and we look for talented teachers to build lessons and activities to capture the interests of the children in their classroom. Cerner currently offers two childcare centers. Cerner Kids Realization, near the Grandview Triangle in South Kansas City and Cerner Kids World Headquarters, in North Kansas City. Our centers have capacity for nearly 400 students.

Early Childhood Support Teacher I should possess the ability to assess and respond to the needs of children, using professional knowledge of children’s developmental milestones along with the ability to apply creative and varied approaches to children’s unique behavioral, developmental and educational needs. Our Early Childhood Support Teacher I can be in two or more classes throughout the day. They will help the Early Childhood Teacher conduct lessons, provide coverage for teacher’s breaks and plan time and will also engage with parent communication/partnership. Teachers need to work cooperatively and collaboratively with their team members, remain calm and positive in a sometimes-stressful environment, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to multi-task. Multiple shifts are available for hire ranging from Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM- 6:30 PM.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 2 years total combined higher education and related work experience, including:
    • At least 1 year of education and/or early childhood work experience
    • At least 1 year of higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Education or Early Childhood Education

  • Ability to pass Missouri’s Department of Health and Senior Services Family Care Safety Registry background check prior to employment and every 5 years in accordance with state requirements
