Manage Crew Activities

  • Ensures team meets on the floor to share information – review activities, upcoming changeovers, information from shift exchange, status of losses / quality issues from previous shift, priorities for each zone and any other information critical to employee safety and performance
  • Understand how your line performance is a reflection on your team and the plant and how that relates to company strategy.

Coordinate Line Activities

  • Coordinate Safety walk-throughs to eliminate the presence of Slip, Trip or Fall hazards.
  • Ensure Workplace Organization is optimized
  • Ensure members adhere to Safety Training Protocols and Programs
  • Ensure CILs are assigned, completed and performed at appropriate times
  • Reinforce purpose is to “Drive out loss”
  • Ensure team is finding and documenting abnormalities
  • Ensure operators remain in their zones to prevent unnecessary downtime
  • Ensure Quality Checks per requirement.

    • Coordinate with Shift Coordinator when C/O is complete if going to a Canadian Product.
    • Support use of standard work documentation
      • Changeover checklist
      • Track c/o performance
        • Identify losses if c/o target time is not met
        • Communicate “why” c/o took longer to Shift Coordinator
        • Communicate to operator’s c/o time was not met and why
      • 45 minutes prior to c/o, print out all c/o documents needed (C/o JIB, JA, TS Guides). During c/o, verify non-qualified operators are using standard work documentation.
      • 30 minutes prior to c/o, assign operators unit ops to c/o. Once an operator completes their zone, identify zone where they can help complete c/o.

Lead Standard Work Processes

  • Centerline checks for major unit ops
  • Call for Assistance – Escalation Plan
  • Minor Stop Tracking- Ensure LEDs tagging is correct
  • CIL – Find and Fix abnormalities

Decision Making

  • Delegate assigned tasks (understand what to delegate)

  • Determine best time to make repair, i.e. during c/o, maintenance day

Troubleshooting

  • Has been trained on use of TS Guide and scenario-based problems
  • Ensure TS guides are used and updated in a timely manner
  • Train zone operators on the use of TS guides
  • Coach zone operator
  • Ensure calls for assistance are made promptly
  • Understands when to make production recommendations based on quality or supply inputs that affect production.

Coordinates and tracks Skill Block Training development.

  • Ensures trainee is attaining specific skill blocks and Group Level Certifications. 

  • Leads Training initiatives for Crewmembers to ensure they are capable of maintaining zone without assistance.
  • Participates in performance evaluations with team and trainee.
  • Ensures Trainee checklist is completed.
  • Give performance feedback to BUL and underperforming operators.
  • Trainer is using training modules with supporting documentation and links to drive one-right-way.
  • Trainer ensures trainee is following road map that identifies skill block progression by week and is meeting adherence to schedule.

Your role at Clorox:

The Clorox Company’s Maintenance & Reliability department at the Atlanta Main Plant is seeking a qualified candidate for the Maintenance Coordinator position. This facility uses automated packaging equipment and utilities to manufacture and distribute Home Care and Laundry products. We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package.

The purpose of this role is to lead, coordinate, and support the daily execution of planned and unplanned work executed by the Maintenance Crew (mechanics & EIC techs) through collaboration with the Maintenance Planners, Operations leads, Sr. Maintenance Resources (mechanical & EIC), Maintenance Manager, and the planned WO/PM schedule. The Maintenance Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that the maintenance crew follows all maintenance procedures and all safety policies. The maintenance coordinator will interact with and support operations employees.

Each team leader is assigned a crew based on business needs.
The facility operates 24/7.
A Crew Maintenance Coordinator – 12.5hr Days – 5:30a-6:00p
B Crew Maintenance Coordinator – 12.5hr Days – 5:30a-6:00p
C Crew Maintenance Coordinator – 12.5hr Nights – 5:30p-6:00a
D Crew Maintenance Coordinator – 12.5hr Nights – 5:30p-6:00a

Note 0: Paid to work 12 hrs per shift. One 30-min unpaid lunch break, two 15-min paid personal breaks.

Note 1: All 12 Hr Crews currently work on a two-week cycle [2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off] – working every other weekend. Days: [Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun, Wed, Thurs].

Note 2: OT (as needed) to complete job responsibilities and duties.

Note 3: Workdays and schedules may change (infrequently) according to business needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Safety Leadership – Safety is a core value at Clorox. As a team leader, the maintenance coordinator must ensure that the maintenance crew follows all safety policies and procedures. They are expected to help drive a culture that prioritizes safety as a core value. All employees must perform all work in accordance with OSHA and Clorox safety standards at all times. This is to include following all electrical safety rules, Clorox safety rules, plant safety rules, and constantly evaluating work being performed and eliminating the risks associated with it. Further, correct any unsafe conditions that exist in the equipment under his/her care. Ensures that safety needs are given a top priority in all work performed.
  • Coordinate the Daily Execution of Planned Work – Ensure that planned work is completed, checked, and documented with high quality, high efficiency, and safety. Adjust work assignments as needed.
  • Point of Contact for Unplanned Work Requests – Internal plant customers will contact the maintenance coordinator when a maintenance resource is needed for unplanned/emergency work. If time permits and the coordinator has the appropriate skills, the coordinator will complete the unplanned work request. Otherwise, the coordinator will assign the unplanned work to the appropriate team member (depending on line priority, job complexity, and planned workload).
  • Ensure Work is Accurately Documented in SAP – Validate that team members accurately track notifications, time, materials, and other resources daily in SAP.
  • Lead Shift Transitions – Ensure that the oncoming crew has all of the maintenance related information needed to effectively take control of maintenance responsibilities.
  • Leads Job Quality and Job Efficiency Audits – Leads and/or supports the audits on PMs/WOs performed by team members. Examples: Did the skill level of the craft person match the job skill requirements? Were all post completion operational checks satisfactorily performed? Was the job started on time? Was the estimated time to complete the job accurate and not over estimated?
  • Feedback on Planning/Scheduling – Ensure that planners receive feedback on job plans (job plan scope, BOM updates, etc)
  • Emergency Part Orders – support maintenance crew with emergency part orders. Ensure that all information related to after-hours parts orders is transferred to the MRO team.
  • Root Cause Analysis – encourage maintenance crew to drive to root cause on breakdown/process failures.
  • Share Knowledge, Experience, & Learnings – Assist with training and sharing knowledge, experience, and learnings with other team members.
  • Participate In & Promote Housekeeping – Participate in housekeeping as time allows. Ensure that team members clean their work area after each job (no oily rags, loose nuts and bolts, metal shavings, pieces of wire, etc.). This includes the maintenance shop, lube room, maintenance office area, toolbox area, and tool room.
  • Participate In & Promote Tool Care – Maintain proper tools in good working condition – request new items as needed.
  • Technical Leadership – Assists team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments.
  • Hands-On Work – If maintenance coordinator is a mechanic, perform mechanical work as needed; learn mechanical skills as needed. If an EIC tech – perform EIC work as needed; learn EIC skills as needed.
  • Other – Perform other job functions as assigned.

What we look for:

Candidates for the position will be evaluated in five areas – technical aptitude, education, work experience, performance, and leadership skills.

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in industrial maintenance (mechanical, electrical, and/or controls). Industrial maintenance experience with fillers, cappers, labelers, conveyors, case packers, palletizers, blow molders, and/or other automated packaging equipment are required. Wide exposure to various technical areas during past work experiences will be evaluated on an individual basis

Key Responsibilities

  • Master the Preventative Maintenance (PM) Pillar methodologies and spread throughout the organization—learn, do, teach.
  • Drive the action plan for PM activities for the department and meet timing commitments.
