Full Job Description

Coordinate, assign, and review all projects involving electrical and/or control activities.
• Investigate manufacturing/production problems and make recommendations for improvements.
• Provide direction and technical leadership to the in-house electrical technicians for wiring and programming the automation controls, human-machine interfaces (HMI), programmable logic controllers (PLC), etc.
• Integrate safety systems into the equipment, including redundant safety interlocks, scanners, light curtains, machine guarding, door switches, and lock-out / tag-out documentation.
• Support the troubleshooting and training needs of the Maintenance Department.
• Assist the Safety Department in the assessment and formulation of electrical safety standards.
• Work with the engineering team in Norfolk and at Corporate collecting machine and process data.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Associates Degree in related field with min of 5 years’ experience
• Knowledge of the National Electric Code
• Experience in industrial/factory automation technologies including PLCs, HMIs, motion and vision applications
• Programming logic with I/O : Siemens and or Allen Bradley
• Knowledge of electric machines and motors
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of OSHA and other pertinent electrical regulations and standards (i.e. NFPA-70E)
• Basic Knowledge of Machine Safeguarding Principles/Standards
• Project Management experience
• Basic Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Data Bases
• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, human machine interface programming, and connection to Industry 4.0 (IoT)/(IT) connectivity knowledge.

THE POSITION
Staff Engineer responsible for assigned project(s) within Connected Car Network (CCN) Business Unit, Segment 4, Customer Center Stellantis.

The Staff Engineer leads and manages a project within a specified time, budget, and quality framework. He/She does this to the satisfaction of customers, ensuring economic success for Continental and profitability of the product over its lifetime. He/She manages people who lead cross-functional teams that are focused on the delivery of a product from design to release for customers. He/She develops, defines, and executes project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables. He/She identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns major project roles, monitors the project/program/product from initiation through delivery, interfacing with customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed. If applicable, he/she assigns and monitors work of project/program management staff, providing technical support and direction. This role is that of an entrepreneur within the organization. While the position does not have true responsibility over product developers, it does have overall product/program/project management responsibility, i.e. responsibility for the overall success of the product.

Project Management (40%)
• Define project goals (financial, scheduling and quality goals)
• Manage overall timing of the project
• Selecting project core team members in conjunction with the line management
• Establish adequate project organization (meeting structure, information/ knowledge exchange, documentation, archiving)
• Setup an initial project plan in accordance with the BU’s valid processes (phases, deliverables, milestones/ Q-Gates, etc.)
• Ensure compliance to the BU’s processes
• Track the project progress, define corrective measures if deviating form the plan

Budgeting and financial management (20%)
• Control the usage of the released project budget and project resources per approved project plan
• Monitor Project R&D budget and highlight issues as needed
• Report the project status in accordance with the valid tool and process set

Change / Problem Management (30%)
• Implement and perform professional change management
• Perform risk assessment, control and steer the implementation of risk measures
• Overall leader and champion for all project changes
• Escalate issues if necessary
• Representation of project-interests in customer or supplier meetings
• Negotiate changes and claims with the customer and with suppliers

Other functions (10%)
• Protect confidentiality of project data
• Actively manage stakeholder expectations, inform and involve stakeholders on a regular basis and in an appropriate manner
• Assign work packages to project team members
• Help build up a supportive culture of cooperation and teamwork with the project
• Manages project resources through indirect reporting
• Report out as necessary significant project details to senior management
• Support required project management assessments and audits

Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• BS Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline.
