Full Job Description
The Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Business Team champions new business development projects and growth initiatives diversifying the Disney Parks, Experiences, & Products portfolio and delivering incremental revenue and OI. The team has accountability for delivering the end-to-end consumer experience and defining the product standards that maximize long-term value for our consumers, cast, and shareholders.
Storyliving by Disney™ is one of the first projects coming out of Emerging Business Team. Cotino™, a Storyliving by Disney™ community, will be built in the heart of the Greater Palm Springs area. The brilliant mountain ringed valley was once a rejuvenating retreat for Walt and Lillian Disney. Architecture and amenities of the community will reflect the history and present-day inspiration of the rich valley culture.
The Cotino community will welcome homeowners of all ages and will include at least one section expressly for 55+ residents. Home buyers will have a range of home types to choose from, including estates, single family homes and condominiums. The community is expected to surround an approximately 24-acre grand oasis featuring clear turquoise waters with Crystal Lagoons® technology, enabling crystalline lagoons of any size to be built sustainably, with low water consumption and using a minimum amount of additives and energy. A voluntary club membership will offer access to a waterfront clubhouse, a club-only beach area and recreational water activities, as well as Disney programming, entertainment and activities throughout the year.
The Cotino community also has Specific Plan approval for a vibrant mixed-use district featuring a range of shopping, dining and entertainment, a beachfront hotel, and a professionally managed beach park with recreational water activities that can be accessed by the public through the purchase of a day pass.
The VP & GM of the Cotino community will be responsible for providing leadership of all aspects of day to day operations within the site including Community Operations, Club Operations, and Commercial Operations. Provides commercial, revenue and cost management oversight; ensuring maximum contribution of financial results; including full Profit & Loss accountability for the site. In addition they will work with critical internal and external partners such as Emerging Business teams; Walt Disney Imagineering, Real Estate Development, Business Development, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Sales and external vendors, tenants, builders, and contractors.
- Responsibility for full P&L for site
- Drives Operating Participant (OP) strategy for residential, public beach and Town Center
- Critical stakeholder in all development plans for residential & Town Center amenities
- Responsible for the Crystal Lagoon® relationships, contract implementation and will oversee operations
- In partnership with Operating Participants, work on securing and onboarding Tenants for Town Center
- Oversee the effective management of all operations based on the site
- Ensure adherence to all site HOA agreements and governance structures; partners closely with VP Real Estate Development and Operations line of business to help resolve resident conflict and issues
- Act as the main Disney point of contact to on site Builders/developers
- Ensure execution of Environmental goals for each site in partnership with line-of-business Operations, develop standards and implementation plan
- Provide leadership and hands-on guidance to the site operations team, partners, tenants, and vendors to support overall resident/prospect experience
- Lead, coach and develop direct reports across multiple functions within the site
- Enable leaders to consistently deliver Disney standards and practices
- Develop and maintain relationships with local municipalities and city officials
- Be active in the community and look for outreach opportunities
- Act as a representative of the Walt Disney Company on committee and boards in the local area
- Interact with Media and Public Relations on community issues
- Role model and hold leaders and Cast accountable to consistently deliver the 5 Keys/ Disney Service Basics
- Provide key strategic and operational leadership, developing high performing teams focused on improving the overall Resident, Member, and Guest experience and business performance metrics
- Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience, including 5+ years as an executive
- Community living and ideally retail complex experience, ideally within the Greater Palm Springs area
- Demonstrated experience in driving complex initiatives and integrating diverse perspectives
- Proven ability to manage a large volume of complex work effectively and efficiently, prioritizing continually to ensure business results are achieved
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills combined with solid business and financial acumen
- Demonstrated ability to translate data and analysis to various business audiences
- Demonstrated business acumen working with P&L and annual operating plans
