Position Overview:

This position will report to the Worcester Plant Manager with responsibility for leading Operational Excellence initiatives across the acquisition, including metal fabrication and assembly processes. Provides overall management of the Operational Excellence function by driving business metrics through lean implementation. Also responsible for warranty and customer quality, new product quality assurance through ProLaunch and quality systems, and EBS and ELSS implementation. In addition to plant focused responsibilities, this role supports PQO-A OPEX initiatives including the BSC, EBEA, and cost out. Proactively drive continuous product and process improvement efforts through the implementation of Quality assurance methods and Lean and Six Sigma Tools. Lead OPEX integration initiatives at the Worcester Plant and in the field. Serve as quality liaison with installation and engineering groups. Responsible for warranty and customer quality functions. Responsible for new product quality through Prolaunch and quality systems. Direct the OPEX function to meet plant objectives with a focus on assembly and fabrication process improvement which include all aspects of sheet metal fabrication and finishing.

In this function you will:

  • Lead Eaton Business System implementation and EBE Assessments in partnership with Plant Manager.
  • Responsible for the collection of data and reporting of the Balanced Score Card.
  • Lead cost out data tracking and analysis.
  • Collaborate with OPEX Managers located at other facilities.
  • Foster an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties as necessary and deemed pertinent to the continued success of Company and employee objectives and/or goals with respect to Operational Excellence.
  • General knowledge of Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS).

Qualifications

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience including management of direct reports and manufacturing and operational processes
  • The candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • CQM or CQE.
  • Knowledge with Eaton Business System.
  • Experience managing technical resources and sheet metal fabrication processes (flexible CNC equipment, stamping presses and dies, brake forming and powder paint lines)

Eaton is currently seeking a Grinder 1st shift  to join our team. This position is based at our Los Angeles Location.The Machinist – Grinder will help setup and operate Studer machinery for precision components.  In this position, the Grinder will focus on machining operations such as grinding features on parts with tight tolerances between .0001 and .0003 and 8 Ra surface finish. This role will report directly to the Fabrication Supervisor.

  • Setup complex parts and operate machinery without supervision.
  • Inspect parts for quality and appropriate tolerance using the appropriate measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, air gages and comparators.
  • Finish all parts with different materials to close tolerance without supervision.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to set up and manufacture parts within specifications.
  • Operate and set up Studer machinery to adjust feed rate, wheel speed, length of stroke, and depth of cut, full understanding of GD&T.
  • Replace worn tools, inspect parts and adjust tool offsets as needed.
  • Must be a team player and follow all Eaton safety rules and regulations.
  • Drive for continuous process improvements, maintain a clean and safe working environment adhering to 5S Principles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in grinding parts in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of abrasive material processes such as grinding and honing
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning, tolerancing and air gauging equipment
  • Relocation is not offered for this role. Candidates must reside within a 50 mile distance of the Los Angeles, CA facility (zip code 90039) to be considered
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred qualifications:

  • Aerospace experience preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in grinding, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.
  • Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering.
  • Experience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teaming.
  • Proficiency with computer-based methods and tools.
  • Familiarity /experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events

Position Criteria:

  • Experienced with multiple machine tools, production methods and shop practices preferred.
  • Ability to learn equipment and processes for fabrication of aerospace parts, produce parts in accordance with the production plans, sketches and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to maintain close tolerance dimensions on critical parts.
  • Knowledge of dimensional measuring instrumentations and use of such tools to verify actual measurements of machined diameters, dimensions and features.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, manufacturing routings, procedures, and routers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills a must.
  • Familiarity with SPC principles and methods.
  • Ability to produce and inspect critical parts with tight tolerances and finishes, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to logically solve problems and to keep assignments and projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.

Position Overview:

  • Perform equipment and tooling set-ups as specified by the Process Sheet Work Instructions.
  • Perform quality inspection including gauge usage, SPC tracking and blueprint reading.
  • Participate as a team member to continuously improve operations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspection checks on equipment and fork lifts.
  • Operate and make necessary adjustments to the forge press, trim press, automatic loader, automatic graphite spray system, heat induction system and all related controls. Operate spray lubricant as required.
  • Communicate with all other team members to assure quality product production and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in teams and/or taskforces that are directly related to plant operations and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to tolerate extreme temperature changes, wetness and/or humidity during production operations.

  • Ability to tolerate fumes from forge press, forklifts, Tennant Sweeper, welding and cutting operations. Ability to tolerate occasional graphite/water mist from forging operations
