Summary

The Data Science Senior Advisor will provide CareAllies advanced analytics expertise and will own the analytics, modeling, and decision-making behind key growth and clinical programs that support our organization’s needs. The candidate will build an advanced analytics roadmap and execute on it, developing and implementing new tools and analysis to measure the effectiveness of current programs and recommending changes to those programs. The individual selected for this role will join a collaborative, cross-functional team of stakeholders to solve challenging, open-ended problems and will be able to effectively communicate results and recommendations to a variety of stakeholders, including CareAllies and Medicare Advantage senior leadership. The perfect candidate will be a data and analytics expert who enjoys leading and collaborating in a matrix organization. This candidate will also have experience working with large databases and enjoys digging deep into data to surface new insights, while incorporating guidance and suggestions from matrix partner experts.  The person in this role will excel at translating complex, technical analyses into actionable findings and communicating those findings to our business partners.
Responsibilities:

  • Consult regularly with business stakeholders and senior leadership to understand strategy, and effectively deploy advanced analytic solutions to help the organization achieve its goals
  • Provide individual and team mentorship to the Reporting & Analytics team as we grow our data science capabilities
  • Provide though leadership and technical expertise on complex data science related assignments across multiple disciplines
  • Oversee modeling projects under concurrent development, prioritizing work across multiple project types, removing roadblocks, communicating project statuses, insights, and resulting business recommendations to senior leadership
  • Ensure quality and integrity of data collected and analyses performed
  • Be subject matter expert on Data Science activities and create analytics to forecast impact and inform business decisions
  • Establish best practices to ensure modeling contributions and work products are designed to be sustainable
  • Oversee matched case-control studies and/or other statistical analyses for determining the effectiveness of health program services and solutions
  • Partner with other analysts within Cigna to improve processes and the implementation strategy of technology solutions

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of work experience in health insurance analytics or actuarial/finance analysis
  • Collaborative leadership implementing innovative analytic and management solutions that drive outstanding results
  • Strong familiarity with medical claims data
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization in a consultative manner
  • Advanced technical competencies including:
  • Demonstrated expertise with Python or ‘R’ programming language
  • Demonstrated experience navigating relational databases and extracting data using SQL (primarily SSMS & Teradata)
  • Experience organizing best practices for model development, ensuring consistencies in documentation & coding style across a team to help enable portability of models among data scientists
  • Proficiency, understanding and experience with a handful of the leading supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods such as Multiple Regression, Logistic Regression, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, KNN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Trees, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, Ensemble, and Match Case Control
  • Experience using statistical and data mining techniques, and integrating data science models into applications
  • Sound knowledge in dealing with large data sets for analytical approach and quantitative methods
    • Strong communication skills (e.g. experience translating complex analyses into easy-to-follow slides/materials)
    • Ability to develop comprehensive strategies to lead and implement new initiatives using competitive and industry trends
    • Ability to independently lead, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities
    • Experience collaborating with a virtual team preferred
    • Medicare Advantage experience preferred
    • Masters/Advanced Degree with preference in related field (mathematics, statistics, data science, business, MIS, actuarial science, finance, etc.) preferred

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $108,200 – $180,400, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.

OVERVIEW:

The Managing Director, Legal Operations & Shared Services and Employment Law manages and oversees Cigna’s combined legal operations and shared services functions.  In addition, this role provides legal support on employment matters, including employment litigation.  This role reports to the SVP, Chief Counsel (for Employment, Benefits & Compensation Law, Legal Operations & Shared Services and ESG) and Corporate Secretary.

RESPONSIBILITIES (LEGAL SHARED OPERATIONS & SHARED SERVICES):

The Shared Services and Operations Lead will be responsible for developing a holistic view of overall Legal services to allow the team to work together, have consistent practices, and achieve maximum efficiency through process improvement, people management, and control and management of outside counsel spend and performance.  More specifically, the Shared Services and Operations lead will serve two primary functions:

Lead and expand the Shared Service function to:

  • Support professionals to leverage their specialized knowledge across Legal, provide greater cross-functional opportunities, quickly deliver services and triage incoming legal matters.
  • Establish new collaboration and cross training programs for Administrative Assistants and Paralegals to expand their skills and subject matter expertise.
  • Move resources to critical projects, reduce silos and increase collaboration by building communities within the teams, thereby increasing cross-functional learning, knowledge sharing, personal growth and skills advancement.
  • Manage “claims pulls” for Litigation.
  • Manage a team of project managers to serve on key Legal projects.
  • Serve in a consultant role to work with the SLT, General Counsel and Legal Leadership Council to evaluate functions and processes to maximize efficiency and use of team members.

Lead the Operations function by:

  • Working with team to develop a law firm management program to help manage outside counsel and consultant expenses and performance.
  • Advancing Next Gen Legal to support our new operating model with the right processes, tools, and technology to advance Cigna’s growth including though automation and self-service tools.
  • Helping to manage the integration of the newly required entities into the Legal department.
  • Consolidating Technology Services support and technology needs, including eDiscovery, data claim extraction, data strategy, ebilling system and contracting systems.
  • Working the SLT and General Counsel on projects to ensure efficient and effective Legal Department functioning.
  • Ensuring that key financial metrics are tracked and met.
  • Managing financial team responsible for outside counsel expenses.
  • Driving insights through data and analytics.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce expenses and improve processes and efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES (COMPETITIVE BENCHMARKING, MEASURING & REPORTING):

  • Advise Human Resources other cross-functional partners on employment decisions, policies, practices and initiatives.
  • Draft and review employment-related documents.
  • Assist and participate in investigations related to employment practices.
  • Manage and drive strategy on pre-litigation and litigation matters, managing outside litigation counsel as needed.
  • Stay current on of and proposed employment law developments, best practices, and trends in select states and on certain topics to ensure continued compliance.
  • Provide practical legal and risk management advice on a broad range of employment issues, including recruiting, compensation, performance management, separations, internal investigations, leaves of absence, discrimination, harassment, diversity and inclusion, wage and hour compliance, restrictive covenants, reasonable accommodations, employee classification, and other employment related topics.
  • Manage and work with team of paralegals responding to agency charges and attorney demand letters.
  • Manage and carry out special projects, providing research, reporting, advice, and other related tasks as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • J.D. from accredited law school/Bar membership required.
  • Ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience of employment law.

The Accounts Payable Team is looking for an energetic, nimble analyst to assist the Global Accounts Payable Manager with process improvement in our extremely fast pace environment and driving change in the way we pay our suppliers and business partners. Delivers specific delegated tasks assigned by a supervisor in the Accounting/Financial Reporting job family. Responsible for moderately complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports. Responsible for analysis and interpretation of financial information. Utilizes independent judgment and discretion to identify trends, variances, and key issues and provides recommendations for adjustment. Responsible for conducting moderate to complex financial analysis projects and/or reporting. Completes day-to-day Accounting/Financial Reporting tasks without immediate supervision, but has ready access to advice from more experienced team members. Tasks involve a degree of forward planning and anticipation of needs/issues. Resolves non-routine issues escalated from more junior team members.

Major Duties

  • Performs a broad range of basic Accounting and Accounts Payable functions.
  • Responsible for the quality, accuracy and completeness of the Supplier Master.
  • Support audit requests and acts as a subject matter expert for A/P regarding transactions unable to be completed by the outsourced business partner.
  • Oversee the 1099 reporting processing
  • Manage several non-standard A/P Batch processes to ensure transactions remain compliant with all applicable processes and controls.
  • Analyze and verify internal consistency, completeness, and mathematical accuracy of account documents and payment batches; making corrections or adjustments if required.
