Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation Focus)
• At least 10 years related experience in transportation work with an emphasis on infrastructure projects
• Professional Engineer License (PE)
• Previous Department of Transportation (DOT), County or Municipal experience
• Strong Civil 3D or MicroStation background
• Strong mathematical, analytical, time management skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Experience with multi-discipline infrastructure engineering design and construction projects

Are you an experienced Utility Manager and want to join Jacobs’ collaborative team in The Villages, FL? You’ll oversee the daily operation of water plants, wastewater plants, collection and distribution and equipment maintenance.

In this role you’ll:

  • Supervise personnel, build teams, address personnel issues, and champion safety for all employees.
  • Utilize software programs, CMMS (MC / Cityworks), HACWIMS, as well as Microsoft Office products.
  • Ensure a safe water supply following federal and state guidelines.
  • Participate in preparing and managing utility budgets, which includes labor, staffing expenses, equipment, and supplies necessary to maintain utilities and infrastructure.
  • Work with officials to create policies for the safe use of public utilities.
  • Prepare and present reports to the client on the operations of utilities.
  • Collect and present data as required by state and federal agencies.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and advanced experience in the operation and maintenance of a water or wastewater facility
  • 10 plus years in a supervisor or management position related to utility management
  • Must reside within 15 miles of The Villages, FL and respond to emergency situations when needed
  • Ability to obtain Florida State certification in water and wastewater within 12 months of hire
  • Ability to operate SCADA systems and other computerized equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • BA/BS degree
  • Self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Capable of working independently and maintaining an orderly schedule
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of the facility to be managed
  • Demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skills
  • Experience developing and working within an approved budget. Specifically tracking costs, adjusting activities to stay on budget, and optimizing labor and materials
  • Proficient with financial budgeting and reports, specifically experience preparing operational reports for both internal and external clients
