Dynamics 365 Connected Spaces

At Microsoft, we have a clear mission and bold ambitions: Empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more through our technology and innovation. To make that a reality, our Dynamics 365 team is charged with crafting solutions that help customers transform their companies—whether they want to empower employees, engage customers, optimize their operations, or change the very nature of their product or business model. So how does Dynamics 365 Connected Spaces fit into this? Our team’s mission is to bring clarity to the Enterprise Metaverse vision by helping businesses manage physical operations across diverse industries using AI systems and Mixed Reality tools.

Think of your last satisfying in-person shopping experience (and if you have to reach back pre-pandemic, that’s ok!). Maybe you were browsing your favorite bookstore, pouring over the staff picks until an intriguing title leaped out. Or you got everything on your grocery list in one go, without having to ask a staff person if they had more in the back.

These experiences — delightful, efficient, fulfilling — are possible because store employees think carefully about what you might need, and then build layouts and displays to help you get what you want. But when it comes to understanding and anticipating shoppers’ needs, in-person retailers have traditionally had less data to leverage than online retailers, who have access to site traffic and other analytics.

AI can help. Dynamics 365 Connected Spaces harnesses data from video cameras to help companies understand their physical spaces better: how people move and interact, and when and where staff might be needed to open a new register or restock shelves. These signals can make spaces more efficient and empower store employees to provide exceptional customer service — all of which improves your shopping experience. Dynamics 365 Connected Spaces can be applied to manufacturing and facility management, too, providing support up and down the supply chain. All backed by a paramount focus on privacy, security, and AI ethics.

We’re growing, and we’d love for you to be a part of our story! Come join a positive and collaborative team—where everyone is encouraged to bring their authentic selves—and work at the forefront of Microsoft’s product portfolio.

Responsibilities

You’re a UX designer who loves to learn and solve challenges. You’re a tireless advocate for the customer, enthusiastic about building and iterating on designs to discover what works best and applying your knowledge to create incredible software products. You understand how to bring a team together to solve difficult product and customer problems, fixing what’s not quite right and smoothing the customer’s journey through the product. You find ways to reduce the number of screens, remove the extraneous, drive users to the next screen or next step, and shorten the path to “Wow!” In our team, we believe in the power of inclusion, diversity of ideas, skills, backgrounds, work/life balance, and the joy of solving challenging problems together.

As a designer on our team, you will…

  • Deliver design and innovation across one or more facets of the design process, including sketching, prototyping, storyboarding, information architecture, interaction design, and usability.
  • Use and contribute to Microsoft’s design patterns.
  • Work in an iterative manner, scope, and prioritize work across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, PM, Engineering, and Data Science.
  • Be an advocate for the user and champion industry-leading, inclusive, and user-centered design practices.

Qualifications

A portfolio review presentation is required to interview for this role. Your presentation should communicate your work experience and demonstrate your design and communication skills.

  • 1+ year(s) of relevant industry experience
  • Practical knowledge of user-centered design methods and usability principles
  • Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of designers, PMs, engineers, and data scientists
  • Track record of creating or improving product user experience
  • Ability to think creatively and critically about design problems, especially ambiguous ones
  • Enthusiasm for an iterative design process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present your work to peers across disciplines
  • Experience with responsive design and cross-device interfaces/inputs from mobile, tablet, desktop.
  • Fluent in current design tools (Figma)
  • Visual and interaction skills
  • Customer research driven

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience producing functional prototypes, motion studies, and interface models
  • Experience working on an emerging tech product (CV, AI, MR, IoT, etc.)
