The Role 

The Microsoft Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) Compliance & Ethics (C&E) organization has an immediate opening for a dynamic professional who will evolve both our approach to compliance learning and culture assessment and who will help scale and adapt these programs to be responsive to future regulatory, compliance, and business needs.  The Compliance & Ethics team advances Microsoft’s mission by fostering a culture of ethics, compliance, and trust through world class programs, proactive guidance, data analytics, and investigations.  Partnership, coordination, and collaboration across many teams will be critical to deliver this work and the impact expected. 

The role is based in Redmond, WA and will report to the Associate General Counsel leading C&E’s Governance, Training, and Culture (GTC) Team.  

What You Do 

The successful candidate will be responsible for evolving our approach to compliance learning and culture assessment.  The candidate will do so through execution of critical projects, implementing strategies that address program opportunities and challenges, and through developing and managing close partnerships with key stakeholders of these programs. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently and drive outcomes, but they must collaborate well with stakeholders and be comfortable operating in a highly complex and matrixed environment.  Finally, they must be flexible and have a growth mindset as this role will necessarily evolve over time.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities 

Learning   

The successful candidate will be responsible for evolving our compliance learning program, including but not limited to Microsoft’s highly regarded Trust Code/Standards of Business Conduct (SBC) course for all employees.  They will be responsible for developing and implementing a targeted compliance and ethics learning program for employees in coordination with Microsoft’s learning organizations and integrated with Microsoft’s OneCompliance Community (a cross Microsoft community of compliance professionals), ensuring that our new OneCompliance Learning Hub becomes a center of excellence for compliance and ethics learning.   

  • The candidate will also proactively develop and implement approaches to learning which respond to the environment in which Microsoft is operating and which anticipates future challenges and requirements for our program each year.
  •  The candidate will be responsible for developing additional learning modalities which can be scaled and made available to key compliance partners working around the globe (through our OneCompliance Learning Hub).   
  • The candidate will develop, socialize, and implement (directly and through resources) an integrated compliance and ethics learning plan for employees and Microsoft’s OneCompliance community.  
  • The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a 2-year learning plan to execute against the strategic roadmap.  
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our compliance learning program is flexible and adaptive, not becoming overly dependent on learning formats or approaches.  
  • The candidate must engage with key partners and stakeholders to continue to evolve key performance indicators (KPIs) and insights to measure efficacy of the learning program.  
  • The candidate must have strong attention to detail, be skilled at proactive planning and development of programs, and must know when to leverage resources (external and internal) to scale for impact and to ensure other key deliverables are met. 
  • The candidate must proactively monitor the external compliance landscape and, as a trusted advisor, make recommendations on when or what Microsoft must shift in its approach to compliance learning to remain ahead of the curve and/or to avoid significant business, legal, or reputational risks.   

Culture Program  

  • Assist with guiding, migrating, scaling, and evolving the culture program, leveraging feedback and learnings from prior iterations of the program.     
  • Own, communicate, and drive the culture program with key partners in OneCompliance, HRBI, MCAPS, Field CELA, Field C&C, and other key stakeholders. 
  • Manage budget and partner funding for culture program.  
  • Supervise external vendors and internal resources, as needed.  
  • Drive sharing of data insights and learnings within GTC, C&E, OneCompliance, and with other stakeholders 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 8+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience leading and developing learning and/or culture programs in or on behalf of a multi-national company or other large complex organization.   
  • Strategic program or project management experience whereby your success depended on individuals not reporting directly to you.  
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in an innovative, fast-paced environment, with rapid exploration and testing. 
  • Experience with and understanding of effective adult learning and best practices. 
  • A passion for ethics and compliance. 
  • Strong knowledge of learning and culture program best practices, and process design experience. 
  • Ability to establish, build, and maintain productive, collaborative relationships and a contributor to the success of others. 
  • Must contribute to an open, diverse, and inclusive workplace with a goal of everyone feeling like they belong. 
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.  
  • Focus and ability to prioritize.  
  • Strong experience with change management
