As a Real Estate Closing Manager, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by managing the following essential job duties:

  • Draft loan commitments and provide comments to ensure accuracy and completeness related to specific terms and conditions of the loan structure as represented in signed term sheets, initial underwriting documentation, and negotiations.
  • Prepare and update closing checklists to cover all due diligence and documents necessary for closing loan transactions.
  • Organize and lead regular closing checklist calls. Appropriately set timetables and expectations for deliverables.  Conduct follow up meetings as needed.
  • Review and analyze closing due diligence items for approval and elevate identified issues as necessary to outside counsel and other appropriate internal personnel for resolution (i.e. organizational documents, title commitments and title exceptions, surveys, leases, evidence of insurance, construction contracts, architectural agreements, development agreements, property management agreements, environmental reports, etc.).
  • Review and evaluate borrower comments to loan documents with outside counsel and other internal team members, recommend appropriate responses based on professional experience, knowledge and outside counsel and internal recommendations.  Confirm final loan documentation conforms to terms of credit approval.
  • Clearly and immediately communicate problems/issues with a closing or deal, and elevate appropriately.
  • Manage consultants providing peer reviews.
  • Prepare and reconcile loan funding forms for signature; authorize funding when closing requirements have been met.
  • Ensure final loan documents are properly executed, recorded and delivered as appropriate, and coordinate the filing of same with Lender’s document management team.
  • Work on projects to improve efficiency and closing procedures and processes and to improve collaboration with the origination, underwriting and servicing groups.
  • Other duties as assigned. This position will not be limited to the functions and requirements as outlined herein, now or in the future.

If you meet the desired qualifications set forth below, you’re a great fit for this role.

  • College degree, paralegal certificate and at least five (5) years’ experience in closing commercial real estate transactions, or a law degree and at least three (3) years’ experience in closing commercial real estate transactions.
  • A broad knowledge of commercial real estate is required, including fundamentals of underwriting, loan covenants, and loan documentation standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of title fundamentals, including title policy review, lender endorsements, surveys and regulatory agreements.
  • Analytical and organizational qualities are essential.  Must be able to prioritize conflicting project demands and perform under time pressures.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders in the transaction and strong writing skills.
  • Proven ability to interpret data and information and problem solve.
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment, make decisions that are well-supported, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Teams, Box, Sharepoint, One Drive, Outlook and Adobe pdf applications.

We are actively seeking an Incident Response Service Lead to join our Cyber Operations team based in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site, remote, or hybrid.

Reporting to the Cyber Operations Manager this role is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of Pacific Life’s Incident Response Service. In this role you will partner with stakeholders throughout the business to prepare for responding to Cyber Incidents. When a Cyber Incident does occur, you will coordinate the enterprise-wide response helping to minimize the impact of that incident. Strong experience relating to incident handling is important to effectively direct members of the IR team regarding which actions need to be taken. How you will make an impact: 

  • Prepare for responding to Cyber Incidents by building and maintaining Incident Response plans, playbooks, and other documentation.
  • Build relationships with key internal stakeholders including Legal, Compliance, HR, IT, and others to ensure effective collaboration during a Cyber Incident.
  • Serve as Incident Response Coordinator where you will coordinate resources from across the organization to declare, investigate, and respond to Cyber Incidents.
  • Design, measure, and assess key risk/performance metrics to inform data-driven decisions.
  • Coordinate and participate in incident response exercises to assess the preparedness and effectiveness of both our service and our business customers.
  • Conduct post-mortem meetings to ensure lessons are learned and translated into preventative measures to mitigate the risk of future incidents.
  • Define and plan the strategy for the Incident Response Service aligned to the department’s overall program maturity targets.
  • Represent the service across the organization, partnering with our business units to understand their needs and how the Incident Response Service can best serve them.
  • Provide support to other E-ISO Operations Services including Security Monitoring, Vulnerability Management, and Insider Threat as needed.

The experience you will bring: 

  • 8+ years of experience in Information Security.
  • 2+ years of experience working in Incident Response or performing incident handling functions.
  • Demonstrable experience coordinating the response to cyber incidents.
  • Can remain calm and inspire the same during highly tense incident investigations.
  • Effective communication skills. The candidate must be able to effectively communicate incident status to senior leadership while also coordinating technical resources who are leading the incident investigation.
  • Knowledge of and interest in keeping up to date with the current security threat landscape.

As a Real Estate Associate, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by participating in our Associate Rotation Program, a unique opportunity that combines assignments in underwriting, mortgage loan originations, and equity investments, giving candidates a breadth and depth of investment experience and exposure to all sides of a real estate investment. How you will make an impact:

  • While participating with the Real Estate Underwriting team, you’ll play a key role at the center of investment production, closing, and our commercial mortgage portfolio by conducting due diligence and analyzing loan transactions across all regions and property types.
  • On rotation with Mortgage Originations, you will work remotely with one of our four field offices, and will be responsible for producing new debt investments.
  • In Equity Investments, you will join our Newport Beach-based team to invest in multifamily development, acquisition, and value-add opportunities, while also taking on some duties with our in-house Asset Management team.
  • Associates will also work with portfolio management, help manage third party investment programs, and gain exposure to other investment platforms across the company.

In all aspects of the rotation, a successful candidate will do the following:

  • Deliver detailed investment committee memorandums and presentations.
  • Assist producers in evaluating risk, financial modeling, market analysis, deal structuring, and pricing.
  • Assist in all aspects of due diligence relating to new investments by reviewing business plans, ownership agreements, third party reports, title/survey, sponsor financial statements, leases, tax analysis, etc
  • Develop a working knowledge of the department’s investment policies and procedures.
  • Leverage Excel and ARGUS financial modeling skills.
  • Conduct research using economic and demographic data, to better assess properties, comparables, and markets.
  • Monitor the performance of investments, working with our portfolio management, loan servicing, and construction services team.
  • Support the development of new business initiatives in commercial real estate for Pacific Life.

Position Requirements:

  • College degree (BA/BS) with emphasis in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (Master’s degree – Real Estate or MBA – strongly preferred). Open to considering Spring 2022 grads!
  • Working experience in evaluation and underwriting of investment risks associated with commercial real estate is desirable; mortgage origination experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in software applications for real estate investment analysis including Excel and Argus, and the ability to quickly learn new program applications.
  • Expertise in the drafting and use of financial formulas in complex financial spreadsheets.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

You will fill a new role that sits on a team of nine people in the Investment Accounting division. Your colleagues will include investment accountants and fellow accounting professionals. Our team performs highly interdependent work and closely collaborates with investment management, investor relations, and corporate treasury.

How you will make an impact:

  • Monitor shared mailboxes and process daily cash activity in PeopleSoft, such as capital calls, distributions, interest payments, paydowns, etc.
  • Communicate with treasury, banks, general partners, or limited partners to resolve any issues related to daily operations
  • Reconcile cash accounts, prepare weekly cash reports, and provide line of credit paydown recommendations to fund managers when necessary.
  • Prepare journal entries related to cash, deal commitments, etc.
  • Maintain organized and properly referenced support and ensuring documentation of workpapers is clean and easy to follow for the reviewer.

The experience you will bring:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word)
  • Sharp attention to detail and organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust quickly in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to change priorities to meet critical deadlines

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Application Developer to join our Data Delivery and Integration Services team in Aliso Viejo, CA. This role preferred to be based out of our Aliso Viejo office but open to 100% remote.

As a Senior Application Developer, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by designing, developing, modifying, debugging and evaluating software enhancements or new programs for new and/or existing applications used in local, networked, cloud-based or internet-related environments.  You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of four people in the Life Insurance division. Your colleagues will include other Pacific Life application developers and offshore development teams.

How you will make an impact:

  • Responsible for developing integration workflows using MuleSoft version 4.X framework, implementing DataWeave and content-based routing using MuleSoft.
  • Design and implement RESTful/SOAP Web Services using various data formats (JSON, XML) to interface with various third-party applications.

The experience you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience, Software integration and/or ESB experience required
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, DataWeave and API Management required
  • Writing and running Munit Tests
  • Good understanding of integration patterns and best practices
  • Experience writing RAML specifications
  • Experience writing MuleSoft flows leveraging various MuleSoft connectors
  • SOA architecture and fluency in API standards and technologies (REST, SOAP)
  • Familiarity with JAVA, JSON, XML and XSD
  • Administrative aspects of Anypoint Platform including Exchange, API Manager and Runtime Manager
  • Maven, Artifact Repositories, GitHub/BitBucket/AzureDevOps
  • Understand the use of CI/CD pipelines
  • Relational Database experience and command of SQL
  • Amazon Web Services, S3 Buckets, SQS, etc.
