PLUS Communications is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for cash management and corporate finance. The Senior Accountant will also assist with monthly finance and accounting activity including invoicing, weekly reports, account reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes, and financial reporting.

Specifically, the Senior Accountant will:

  • Record and Reconcile Cash Transactions Daily
  • Communicate with Operations when specific invoices have been paid by Clients
  • Monitor, Report, and Project Cash Balances
  • Prepare Journal entries related to escrows, commissions, and bank transfers
  • Work with accounts receivable on invoice adjustments and refunds
  • Assist with credit card expense reporting and reconciliation
  • Assist with A/R and A/P processes- Creation of Invoices / Debit and Credit memos etc.
  • Follow up with clients regarding A/R aging
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of company expense reports
  • Monitor financial transactions and coding
  • Assist with account reconciliations
  • Assist with year-end tasks -1099s, taxes, etc.
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and colleagues
  • Complete ad hoc requests as necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-2 years’ experience in public accounting, preferred
  • Experience in Cash Management, General Ledger, A/R, A/P
  • Sage Intacct experience a Plus
  • Thorough understanding of accounting concepts and Journal Entries (Debits and Credits)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong analytic abilities
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Can-do attitude
  • Manage multiple complex assignments within strict deadlines
  • Possess superior oral and written communication skills and have the ability to work with a variety of people at all levels of the firm
  • Ability to understand and suggest improvements to current accounting, expense reporting, and timekeeping systems
  • Successful record of successfully producing accurate financial statements and reports
  • Experience with Concur is beneficial, though not required
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the internal client’s business and challenges
  • An interest in politics and/or public affairs is preferred, though not required
  • Experience in a professional services firm environment

Working within the Competitive Intelligence practice, the Manager will:

  • Prepare research documents and backgrounders for use in client advertising and new business pitches
  • Lead in building out opposition research books on issues, organizations and individuals from initial planning stage through completion
  • Work with a team of junior staff, ensuring quality control for client deliverables
  • Maintain the firm’s research documents and database
  • Pull campaign finance reports and analyze voting records
  • Real-time monitor clients, issues and items of interest to clients
  • Conduct bias analysis and vetting as needed
  • Generate research support for client deliverables, such as op-eds and press releases
  • Execute special projects as required

Requirements

Ideal candidates will meet many of the following qualities and requirements:

  • Must have at least 4-6 years of relevant experience in opposition research or competitive intelligence. This is NOT an entry level position. Title and compensation will vary based on experience.
  • Willingness to work with Republican and conservative political campaign and issues, in addition to various nonpartisan efforts
  • Previous experience in RNC-style formatting is a plus and a keen eye for detail
  • Strong research, writing and editing skills
