Full Job Description

The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development and implementation of assigned program.

This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Raise awareness of fellowship opportunities via print and web materials, social media, and virtual and in-person information sessions.
  • Serves as the primary advisor for highly competitive, national, and international fellowship and scholarship opportunities and maintains up-to-date information, knowledge, and understanding of national fellowships and awards regarding the requirements, policies, procedures, application processes, submission criteria, and deadlines.
  • Develops and manages an educational outreach campaign to build awareness of prestigious national and international fellowship and award opportunities. Work closely with faculty and staff to develop strategies to identify high-potential students early in their undergraduate college careers to pursue prestigious national and international fellowships and awards.
  • Recruits advise and work one-on-one with students interested in awards/fellowship opportunities from initial inquiry, application preparation, proposal writing, and obtaining letters of recommendation. Serves as the liaison or institutional representative to agencies sponsoring awards and fellowships where appropriate.
  • Plans and implements programs and assists in their evaluation.
  • May supervise program staff.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in an applicable field.

Full Job Description

The Student Hourly Assistant, under general supervision, will assist the Cooperative Agricultural Research Center with daily operations.

Responsibilities :

  • Researching methods to improve food and food safety while also helping to maintain a healthy living by engaging in the study of plants and extracting plant materials, water, engineering as it applies to agricultural issues
  • Assisting the researcher in interpreting data gathered from characterizations using the necessary equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
  • No prior experience necessary
  • For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.

Other Requirements:

  • W orkers must be willing to learn basic laboratory techniques necessary to perform laboratory research experiments; must be willing to work outside twice a week for short periods; must be committed to learn at a quick pace and complete a hypothesis-driven scientific project.
