Responsible for supporting Credit Officers and Head of Group in proactive management of a portfolio of accounts in CIB. Become familiar with Bank’s credit policies and framework in support of risk management and business development. Build relationships with Credit, Relationship, Product, and Legal Partners. Support manager of the department on continuous improvement initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENTS

  • Support credit officers in gathering research, news, rating agency updates.
  • Support credit officers in analyzing company trends by researching 10K, 10Qs, earnings release, and other publicly available information. Assist in identifying risks associated with a client.
  • Research and summarize industry characteristics and trends as requested.
  • Assist in reviewing overall 1LOD proposals for accuracy and completeness. Review relevant deal documents / information provided in data room by Company / Sponsor, and third party reports.
  • Present findings, deal merits/challenges, and recommendations to credit officer by distilling complex information and communicating in a straight-forward and concise manner.
  • Spread financials in certain cases. Review spreads presented by 1LOD for accuracy and completeness of numbers as well as adjustments.
  • Check HLT/HRL calculations. Check FCCR and Debt Repayment tests.
  • Adhoc projects as needed, such as researching and summarizing impact of hurricanes, tariffs, geopolitical conflicts, amongst others.
  • Fully prepared for committees/meetings, including the dissemination of all relevant materials ahead of time. Take minutes as requested.
  • Assist in reviewing specific aspects in legal documents.
  • Assist in liasing and coordinating meetings with 1LOD, Bankers, Legal, Middle Office as needed.
  • Assist in preparing drafts of 2LOD Assessments as part of credit approvals. Assist in documenting 2LOD challenge and feedback.
  • Strictly adhere to all Compliance policies of the Bank.
  • Attend Business Line and Product Sessions. Complete assigned end of internship Final Project.

EDUCATION

Rising Senior for Bachelor’s Degree; in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or equivalent field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Previous internships preferred but not essential. Experience with Financial analysis/underwriting, other Banking exposure preferred but not essential.

The Financial Consultant is responsible for identifying needs, understanding client objectives, and making appropriate investment/insurance recommendations consistent with compliance standards in an effort to achieve sales results and long term client satisfaction.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Achieve and exceed both individual and branch related sales and revenue goals as defined on a quarterly basis
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable bank, broker/dealer, State and Federal regulations associated with the sale of investment and insurance products including Santander Policy Statement governing the sale of uninsured products
  • When appropriate, provide leads to branch personnel for the sale of other bank products and services such as deposit accounts and loans
  • Attend and actively participate in sales meetings, training initiatives, and planning sessions related to the development and growth of the program
  • Develop and execute quarterly business development plans in accordance with sales management’s objectives surrounding the marketing and promotion of investment products and services
  • Maintain records, master operational procedures and provide sales and activity reports per management’s request in a timely and efficient manner

  • Maintain required professional training and license requirements, including knowledge of FINRA compliance, FDIC compliance, the Bank’s uninsured Products Policy Statement and all applicable state and federal regulations
  • Provide active mentoring and coaching to all Licensed Bank Employees (LBEs) assigned within your branch territory
  • Hold frequent client appointments, seminars and branch training sessions in an effort to secure long-term client relationships and provide sales leadership to internal business partners regarding investment and insurance products
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
  • Experience providing investment guidance and advice to clients
  • Must be able to demonstrate a superior record of sales achievement while maintaining high ethical standards.
  • Degrees such as an MBA, CFP, CHLU or CHFC preferred
  • Experience: Between 3 – 5 years

JOB REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Graduation from the Program requires passing all requisite examinations, individual and group assessments during the classroom training, and all continuous education.

Credit Analysts will have the following responsibilities:

  • Complete the Commercial Credit Training Program curriculum
  • Perform credit analysis and underwriting on new deals, renewals/reviews and modifications verifying compliance with credit policy
  • Conduct due diligence on clients, industries and markets to identify key business drivers and risks
  • Assist in the preparation of valuation and capital structure analysis in conjunction with credit approvals for new and existing clients
  • Assist with legal closing process, preparing, reviewing, and validating documentation, ensuring compliance and conditions are met
  • Communicate with all deal team members including: origination, underwriting, credit risk management, monitoring, and loan closing
  • Monitor and assess client financials, collateral, loan covenants and risk ratings on a periodic basis
  • Assess and formally review client risk through periodic Portfolio Reviews, Internal Audits, External Audits, and ad-hoc reviews
  • Continuously monitor client financials/information to ensure performance to financial plan and compliance with credit agreement
  • Prepare credit approval document and assist deal team in deal screen and approval meetings
  • Prepare customer risk rating and financial statement analysis

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related major; minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA preferred
