Location: We are seeking an experienced Catering Sales Manager for New Orleans Convention Center located in New Orleans, LA.

Salary: $65,000 – $70,000 + Benefits

The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is located in Downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. The lower end of building one is located 1,640 feet upriver from Canal Street on the banks of the Mississippi River. It is named after former Mayor of New Orleans Ernest Nathan Morial. With 1.1 million square feet of prime, contiguous exhibit space, the award winning New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is the sixth largest convention facility in the nation, and it consistently ranks in the country’s top ten of facilities that hold the most conventions and tradeshows annually.

The Convention Center has been voted a Top Work Place in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022!!

Principal Function:

The Catering Sales Manager will be directly responsible for creating unique dining experiences by directing, selling, up-selling and actively participating in the planning and production of catered functions. Working closely with clients, as well as with the sales, culinary and operations staff, they are responsible for ensuring that events are coordinated and executed smoothly and in accordance with all client expectations and specifications.

The Catering Sales Manager will focus on the development, implementation and measurement of the revenue objectives contained within the unit’s annual marketing plan. They will direct and manage the sales team and all sales activities to meet revenue objectives and attain the top line financial forecast. This includes developing sales with existing business (forecasted group/local business) and executing strategies to develop new business.

The Catering Sales Manager will support the planning of and preparation for events according to anticipated attendance, and will provide hands-on management and oversight in the areas of service and F&B operations during events.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maximize Sodexo Live!’s catering revenue through creative sales techniques and customer focus.
  • Provide leadership and direction to operations staff.
  • Contribute to goal of making Sodexo Live! #1 in Event Hospitality and the #1 Employer of Choice through personal commitment and leading by example.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, hotel/restaurant management or a related field, and/or appropriate combination of education and experience to support on the job effectiveness.
  • 5-7 years of catering sales experience, with at least 3-5 years in a management role.
  • Prior experience in a similar venue with more than $5M in food and beverage sales.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen; P&L accountability and/or contract-managed service experience.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of food and wine for menu development.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of food and beverage financials, operations procedures, controls and administration, as well as awareness and ability to perform all sales-related functions.
  • Solid and proven track record for sales and leadership success.
  • Tech savvy, with high proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated success in interfacing with a variety of organizational functions and divisions to accomplish tasks.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management; Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of retail operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively.

Other Requirements:

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.

Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Principal Function

The Accounting Manager will support the financial affairs of their assigned business unit, with guidance from the Corporate Office, Unit Controller and Regional Controller.

The Accounting Manager may directly manage a team of up to 1 to 2 individuals, and they will either partner closely with the Payroll and HR departments or will be responsible for performing Payroll and HR-related duties, in addition to tasks and responsibilities related to accounts payable and receivable, tax and compliance, and financial analysis and reporting.

The Accounting Manager will partner with the operations team and other department heads to ensure the financial performance of the unit and that Sodexo Live standards for accuracy, efficiency and quality are upheld.

Essential Responsibilities

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, CPA strongly desired
  • 5+ plus years of experience in a leadership role in financial reporting and accounting within a company with annual sales in excess of $10M
  • Previous Accounting experience within a food service environment preferred
  • Exceptional computer literacy with expert-level EXCEL/ACCESS and Microsoft Office Suite software; Previous experience with Lawson accounting a software a huge plus; Extensive experience with menu board technology or comparable digital technology
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, to include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare ad-hoc financial reports, statements and projections as needed.
