What to Expect
  • Design, build, launch and ramp new High Pressure Die Casting manufacturing lines.
    What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather requirements (e.g. part, rate, schedule, cost, etc.) for new casting lines. -Specify and lay-out equipment for high pressure die casting, from melt through trim, including major equipment and all ancillary items required to operate the cell. -Design custom fixtures, jigs, tools, etc. as needed, providing detailed build to print models/drawings for fabrication. -Evaluate failures and provide technical solutions to improve quality and / or OEE in the specified area. -Perform major equipment repairs and rebuilds, (some weekends and holidays required). -Oversee technical and schedule performance of equipment suppliers. -Commission and troubleshoot new equipment, ensuring performance requirements (e.g. cycle time, uptime) are met. -Create documentation needed to sustain operation of the equipment (e.g. start up and shut down procedures, maintenance schedules and instructions).

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering. Other relevant combinations of training/experience may be considered. -Experience designing mechanical equipment, fixturing and tooling in CAD (Catia/SolidWorks) -Experience designing manufacturing lines in 2D (AutoCAD) and/or 3D (Catia/SolidWorks) environments. -Experience introducing new high pressure die casting equipment and new processes into a production environment preferred. -Demonstrated project management abilities.

Responsibilities:

·        Develop basic and advanced technical content on a wide variety of material. Examples include; basic and advanced electrical systems and components, electrical measurement, Print reading, troubleshooting, ladder logic, PLC systems, Variable Frequency Drives and conveyers.

·         Deliver equipment specific training to Maintenance Technicians and Engineers on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment and topics as described above.

·         Knowledge of: methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the maintenance and repair of all auto manufacturing electrical equipment and processes.

·         Deliver Technical Training courses in classroom and field settings using a variety of presentation formats including Instructor Led, Facilitative group learning, active hands-on learning and functional assessments.

·         Provide evaluation of courses with written and hands-on assessments.

·         Provide comprehensive tracking of each Student’s completed and required training in Tesla specific Learning Management software system.

Requirements

·         Extensive experience with mechatronic systems in manufacturing settings to include basic and advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, mechanical teardown and reassembly.

·         Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC experience a plus.

·         Extensive presentation skills with diverse advanced technical content as described above.

·         Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within the Training, Maintenance and Engineering organizations.

·         Strong analytical problem solving skills and hands-on experience with hardware, tools, instruments, and methods applicable to manufacturing robotics processes.

·         Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

·         Experience with environmental and safety requirements a plus.

·         Strong ability to work in cross functional groups from diverse technical and experience backgrounds.

·         Skilled with common workplace and database software (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment.

  • Provide daily coverage of production line processes to ensure smooth and effective operations, including a rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize productivity Investigate and implement countermeasures to improve product yield.
  • Execute experiments and analyze data under the direction of process engineers.
  • Lead special case disposition of non-conformance materials produced by the production line and escalate to the production engineering team as needed.
  • Maintain and help develop up-to-date maintenance and calibration procedures and schedules.
  • Trial new parts and process in conjunction with the new product engineering team.
  • Perform Quality Audits to proactively identify potential issues working with the quality engineering organization.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives with the support of the industrial engineering team.

  • Associate degree, technical certificate or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong proficiency in common workplace software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc.)
  • Proven ability to draw accurate conclusions from test data, malfunctions, or deviations, and assist with corrections to the existing process.

  • Resolve warehouse management system issues accurately and timely to reduce down time in warehouses (identify root causes and supply possible solutions)
  • Develop and supply strategic reporting to the Operations team, including: quarterly summaries, monthly trends, week-over-week analysis, and daily reporting
  • Identify process and system gaps, and highlight areas for optimization/automation with the goal of driving projects to improve these areas. Documents these improvements, tracking the ROI.
  • Develop and drive departmental and organizational goals through data analysis with the ability to speak to multiple levels of the business
  • Take a high level of ownership of site training and team development based around system and process improvements with the goal of preventing inaccuracies and improving efficiencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Finance, Supply Chain, Analytics, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering (or relevant experience)
