As Construction Estimator at Tesla you will be playing a critical role in company critical projects at Tesla facilities in Austin, TX. You will understand cost drivers at the fundamental level while facilitating value engineering efforts cross functionally, enabling Tesla to rapidly scale our manufacturing facilities at Ludacris speed

Responsibilities:

  • Understand, develop, compile and present high-level cost estimates for multiple projects at Tesla
  • Develop detailed cost estimates as designs develop, communicating with various stakeholders on cost drivers and value engineering opportunities across all trades
  • Use efficient and aesthetic communication methods to escalate risks and communicate opportunities
  • Employ a can-do attitude, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned to the program goals
  • Create what-if scenario estimates for program strategy and decision making
  • Develop long term strategy on estimation methodology, tool and systems for CAPEX projects

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience on large commercial or industrial construction projects, 3+ years of estimation experience required (All trades preferred)
  • Experience in estimation with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical and life safety systems
  • Experience in value engineering and cost modeling with fast turnaround results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication presentation skills are a must
  • Knowledge of how things are built at the fundamental level, experience with construction management preferred
  • Willingness to get your hands dirty to understand the projects you are supporting
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines, aggressive goals and demanding work environment.

Role: Process Technician 

The Process Technician is tasked with understanding and improving processes to ensure manufacturing lines produce quality products safely and efficiently.  This role will interact with many cross functional teams and will require flexibility to support Engineering, Quality, New Product Introduction (NPI) and additional organizations.  A process tech is the go-to person to evaluate necessary changes to the line, support quick fixes and to improve line reliability.

Responsibilities: 

  • Support Engineering and Manufacturing teams in improving and writing manufacturing instructions, including rework procedures.
  • Provide daily coverage of production line processes to ensure smooth and effective operations, including a rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize productivity Investigate and implement countermeasures to improve product yield.
  • Execute experiments and analyze data under the direction of process engineers.
  • Lead special case disposition of non-conformance materials produced by the production line and escalate to the production engineering team as needed.
  • Maintain and help develop up-to-date maintenance and calibration procedures and schedules.
  • Trial new parts and process in conjunction with the new product engineering team.
  • Perform Quality Audits to proactively identify potential issues working with the quality engineering organization.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives with the support of the industrial engineering team.

Requirements: 

  • Associate degree, technical certificate or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong proficiency in common workplace software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc.)
  • Proven ability to draw accurate conclusions from test data, malfunctions, or deviations, and assist with corrections to the existing process.
  • Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

Role

As the Process Engineer you will be responsible for design and execution of material flow, analyzing and optimizing conveyance to support production rates, warehouse flow layouts, and processes related to launch of all new production facilities for all Tesla products. We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual who can create systematic workflows to unlock efficient material flows, drives business process, high throughput capabilities and operating models throughout our organization. This team is responsible for supporting all physical engineering needs of the Production Control team, including designing mechanisms for all material flow aspects from receiving, metering, including order fulfillment through sequencing and kitting, with solutions to safety and ergonomic hazards. You will be highly proactive and self-sufficient in pursuing improvement projects, be able to multitask and refocus efforts immediately to meet constantly shifting demands in a fast paced environment and have exceptional organizational skills to coordinate changes with all affected teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholder teams like Manufacturing Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain teams, IT Systems Developers, and Material Planning to prioritize and maximize operational efficiency of Production Control Operations team
  • Design and optimize material flow conveyance routes, facility layouts by analyzing bottlenecks and buffer sizes using process modeling
  • Lead and own PFEP standardization and adoption of processes through the entire value stream of material flow
  • Develop simulation models for all processes including receiving, staging, and conveyance deliveries to the assembly line
  • Analyze and improve material flow processes from the network of external warehouses to manufacturing facilities optimizing for space, cost, and service levels
  • Develop business cases for improvement projects such as material handling – touch reduction, automation support etc., with a focus on workforce planning and management
  • Create documentation for training materials such as job cards, standard work, and standard operating procedure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of experience in managing supply chain operations, logistics, or manufacturing
  • Commanding knowledge of lean principles, logistics business systems, pre-determined motion and time standards.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, SQL, or other analytical tools for data mining and analysis.
  • Work efficiently and productively in independent and team settings.
  • Demonstrated talent for implementing process flow improvements.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, or similar 2D CAD software
  • Previous World Class Manufacturing and Material Handling experience

Requirements
