MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver approximately 12-15 live training sessions/skills labs each month both online via Zoom and in-person at a variety of program locations throughout NYC on a range of topics related to organizational development, social services, and trauma-informed approaches.
Develop, review and update content for large-group training sessions, small-group skills labs, and self-directed eLearning courses.
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Training and Development to develop role-specific onboarding plans for staff across the organization. Monitor and update onboarding plans based on observations and needs.
Track registration and attendance via the LMS.
Serve as a subject-matter expert on onboarding.
Collaborate with training team members, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to assess learning needs, especially related to onboarding.
Communicate regularly with leaders in the organization to determine onboarding needs for their teams.
Use training data to engage in outreach efforts.
Review and evaluate engagement and effectiveness of learning materials.
Other duties as assigned.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Bachelor’s degree required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of domestic violence and/or homelessness within and against disenfranchised communities including individuals whom identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, the elderly and individuals with mental health issues.
Experience supporting an onboarding program for professionals.
Experience working in a social service setting.
3-4 years of experience delivering training, preferably including training implemented via online platforms.
Proven presentation and facilitation skills with a dynamic classroom presence and ability to make content relevant and engaging for adult participants.
Experience authoring content and developing learning materials for professional staff.
Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches, domestic violence, and homelessness.
Knowledge of the principles of training, adult learning, and evaluation.
Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with all levels of staff; ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
Strong project management skills – must be very organized and able to effectively prioritize tasks to ensure their timely completion.
Eager to learn and grow professionally.
Fluency in Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
Able to travel to facilities or other sites within New York City.
Able to work some evenings and weekends as needed.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee and coordinate the Economic Empowerment Program’s day to day functions including but not limited to providing regular supervision, supporting in the development of new curriculum, and providing clinical support and guidance to staff.
Ensure the accurate entering of data by staff on a timely basis and write Program Reports to grant funders as needed.
Provide supervision to staff members on any mandated reporting incidents that occur at the Center and support them with making an ethical decisions based on the protocols of the agency.
Provide crisis intervention to clients and support in the safety planning process.
Collaborate with the Program Director and other staff to create new and innovative programming for clients of the Center.
Support in the development in the Aftercare programming to support clients in a trauma-informed way after they have left the program and the shelter.
Conduct and lead case conferences with Career Specialists, Financial Empowerment Specialists, Job Developers, Intake Assessment Specialists, and others to assess any issues that arise during the program and to discuss the progress of each client.
Cultivate relationships with key community organizations that will be essential for the clients of the program.
Supervise the program staff. Support with the growth and development of the staff.
Meet weekly with Director for supervision and perform other duties assigned by the Director.
Stay up to date with innovations in the field.
Participate in regular staff meetings and in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop one’s skills.
Attend coalitions, taskforces, working groups and committees focused on relevant employment issues regularly and take on leadership positions when asked.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Master’s degree in Social Work or a related human services field, with two years of delivering economic empowerment services to survivors of domestic violence.

3-5 years’ experience preferably in a domestic violence or other related setting with experience work with domestic violence survivors on an individual basis. 2-3 years working with survivors of domestic violence in a vocational and/or economic empowerment capacity.

  •  Consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
  •  Day-to-day administration of benefit programs including but not limited to health, dental, life, disability, FMLA, NYS-PFL, COVID leave, worker’s compensation, flexible spending benefits, voluntary benefits, retirement plans and time-off entitlements.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits.
  • Respond to benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure timely, equitable, courteous resolution. Provide timely response to employees and other related entities to facilitate positive customer service experience from the P&C department at all times.
  • Update and maintain benefit data for employees’ benefits by monitoring employment status for benefit eligibility and loss of benefits. Follow up with employees to obtain any required information.
  • Monitor payroll deductions to ensure accuracy. Run appropriate reports to verify accuracy of deductions.
  • Process premium invoices and ensure employee eligibility data is accurate.
  • Interface with HRIS vendor to ensure benefit plans and associated rates are correctly set up in HRIS.
  • Collaborate with IT, Payroll and HRIS vendor to ensure file feeds to Third Party Administrators are functioning correctly and that data is being uploaded in a timely manner.
  • Compile census data and interface with insurance broker to provide data and information required to manage renewals.
  • Assist in evaluating, and/or comparing existing employee benefits with those of other employers by analyzing the agency’s plans, surveying employees and collecting other sources of information regarding best practice and industry standards to maintain the agency’s competitive position in the market.
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of benefits documentation, e.g, benefit agreements, summary plan documents, insurance policies, etc. Ensure prompt and accurate compliance on behalf of the agency.
  • Ensure agency compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Prepare reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Remain current with all legal and regulatory changes to local, state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and report necessary or suggested changes to management.
  • Co-facilitate workshops and benefits meetings with appropriate vendors for new hire orientations, open enrollment and brown bag sessions for employees to provide applicable benefits information and advice to employees on existing benefit plans.
  • Assist with updating benefit information posted on intranet.
  • Complete and submit third party no-fault insurance claims. Follow up with managers and/or employees to obtain required information.
  • Assist with the coordination and communication of the annual open enrollment process including preparation of initial notification, review of enrollment changes, and update of employee records.
  • Other duties as requested based on department, organizational needs and as directed by VP, People & Culture.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources, Business Administration/Management or related field preferred.
  • Associates’ degree in Business Administration/Management or related field with additional three 3 years of experience in a benefits role required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in employee benefits administration is required. Experience in Social Service/non-profit highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat. Experience with HRIS preferable.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of HR and benefits laws, best practices, and employment regulations.

The Urban Resource Institute (URI), a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization established in 1980, operates shelter, legal and job training programs for domestic violence victims, residential and vocational programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. With a $70-80 million annual budget with over 600 staff by the end of the year, URI promotes safety, justice, health, and independence for vulnerable individuals and families residing in New York City.

The Crime Victim Services Case Manager is responsible for assisting victims of domestic violence to apply for crime victim’s benefits.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                 

  • Provide social services support by meeting with victims of domestic violence in groups and one on one to inform them of crime victims benefits.
  • Assist victims of domestic violence to apply for applicable crime victims benefits.
  • Follow up referrals from police precincts and community based social services to inform victims of domestic violence of crime victims benefits.
  • Co-facilitate domestic violence support groups.
  • Provide counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy and referrals.
  • Maintain records of activities with clients and submit monthly reports.
  • Meet with Director regularly to review records and discuss service plans.
  • Attend meetings, trainings and workshops as directed.
