Full Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION AVID tutorials offer a collaborative environment in which students use the inquiry process and Socratic dialogue to address points of confusion from their content classes. AVID tutors support our AVID Elective students who are underrepresented in higher education, through the facilitation of the AVID 10-step tutorial process to ensure students are thinking critically and problem-solving using inquiry. Additionally, AVID tutors serve as role models for AVID Elective students. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION Attend and participate in a 3 hour AVID Tutorial Training at VAHS Support AVID scholars through facilitating small group tutorial sessions Model inquiry, academic language, higher level thinking, and problem solving skills Provide feedback on student work and group collaboration Collaborate with a team of tutors and elective teachers to support scholars’ agency Adhere to district/site policies and procedures Engage in ongoing professional development WORK LOCATION AVID Tutors will work at Verona Area High School or at one of our two middle schools all of which implement the AVID elective class. Placement is based on tutor availability, academic strengths, work experience, and individual school need. HOURS OF WORK AVID Tutors are requested to work minimally two mornings per week in the AVID Elective class at one of the times indicated below. 8:35 – 9:15 a.m. (T/Th or W/F) Badger Ridge / Savanna Oaks grade 8 10:15 – 12:00 (T/TH or W/F) VAHS grade 9 8:45 – 10:15 a.m (T/TH or W/F) VAHS grades 10, 11, or 12 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Candidates are either currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college or a college graduate Previous experience working with diverse middle school or high school-aged youth Experience with small group facilitation Excellent communication skills AVID Alumni are strongly encouraged to apply DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous AVID tutoring experience Previous experience working in a school setting or with school staff Experience working with students in a pre-college or college readiness program Ability to commit for the entirety of the 2021-22 school year (or at minimum one semester) PLEASE NOTE You will not be invited to an in-person interview without two verified professional references. Everyone on our team has the potential for a meaningful impact on the lives of the children and customer engagement. We’re looking for drivers for our school bus transportation departments based in Madison and Verona. Our drivers provide quality, safe, secure transportation for student passengers to and from schools and school-related activities.

A part-time driver can expect:
20-24 hours per week – or more
Wages – start at $17.65-19.25 per hour (based on verifiable experience).
Four routes daily on weekdays (about 4 hours +/-) each day during school sessions.
Optional additional work opportunities and compensation:
Charters
Fields Trips
After-school activities
Mid-day routes
An annual Retention/Performance Bonus of up to 5.5% of your total wages earned.
Working hours (shifts) are typically between the hours of 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM and then again between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM
Split Shifts will apply (a double route in the morning and a double route in the afternoon)
Additional driving work may be offered during the day.
Some opportunities for evenings and weekends work may be available for extra income.
Position requirements are:
Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with an acceptable Driving Record
18 years of age with 3 or more years of driving experience
Legally able to work in the United States
Acceptable Pre-Employment Drug Screen Results
Acceptable Criminal Background Check Results.
Strongly qualified applicants will have:
A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with P & S endorsements.
Experience with passenger transportation and related customer service
