Provide closing support to the Closing Officers with a particular emphasis on data management, due diligence review, and document preparation.  Close assumptions, supplementals and vanilla agency loans under the supervision of a senior closing officer.  Support Delivery Management.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage receipt and review of due diligence items and ensure all necessary participants receive copies.

  • Track rate lock and closing special conditions.

  • Generate amortization schedules.

  • Prepare escrow analyses.

  • Assist with drafting commitments.

  • Generate accounting workbooks for review by Closing Officer and coordinate with Loan Funding and the warehouse lender to set loans up for funding.

  • Prepare reconciliation of application fee and third party costs.

  • Back up the closing analyst responsible for the preparation of income notices and the follow up on servicing set up issues.

  • Ensure that data in Salesforce is complete and accurate throughout the process.

  • Generate Midland HML within required timelines.

  • Ensure that documents needed within 48 hours for loan set up are received and placed in the Servicing Deliverables folder.  Follow up with counsel if documents are not received by required deadline.

  • Prepare C&D commitments and submissions on Fannie Mae deals.

  • Prepare Funding Express submissions on Fannie Mae deals and provide necessary information and back up support to the Early Funding Desk.

  • Review C&D and the final 4662 before submission of the loan for securitization to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Track and follow up on post closing requests from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

  • Provide backup support to Delivery Management.  Assist with deliveries, Ginnie Mae pool set ups, investor communication, and the tracking and follow up on open post closing items.

  • Assist with the closing of HUD IRR deals.

  • Close assumptions, supplementals, and vanilla agency deals under the supervision of a senior closing officer.

  • Communicate and problem-solve daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, often in combination with travel

  • Other skills related to building a career in Closing!

The education and experience we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or experience in lieu of education

  • Paralegal certificate or other legal experience preferred

The primary responsibility of this position is to complete the daily payment postings and disbursements for a $100+ billion loan servicing portfolio. This includes obtaining various lockbox files from the bank to post loan payments in the servicing system and working with various functional groups within the servicing department to process escrow disbursements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the Tran Proc email inbox ensuring received items are completed in an accurate and timely basis.
  • Maintaining and updating the Unposted and Unapplied reports on a daily basis.
  • Initiating the Check Stop Payment process on servicing system.
  • Process loan payoff postings in the servicing system.
  • Input initial escrow deposits for recently closed loans in the servicing system.
  • Ensure month end escrow interest calculations are posted both timely and accurately.
  • Obtain daily NSF report from the treasury group and process payment reversals in the servicing system.
  • Other transaction processing tasks as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college.
  • Minimum of one – three years of accounting experience.  Experience in commercial real estate loan servicing a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to competently complete multiple tasks simultaneously with an appropriate attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints independently and within the department.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Underwrite and perform due diligence for multifamily housing products and transactions.
  • Input income and expense statements in order to determine maximum loan amounts.
  • Conduct initial reviews of market areas, property and site characteristics.
  • Complete initial review of borrower and management qualifications.
  • Learn methodology for building up Proforma income and expenses.
  • Understand Part III of the DUS Guide and periodic updates on an on-going basis in order to cultivate continuous improvement.
  • Conduct site visits to assess the condition and quality of multifamily projects, their management, and their marketplaces.
  • Order and review third-party Appraisals, Engineering Reports, Seismic Reports, Phase I Environmental Assessments and Operations and Maintenance (O & M) Reports.
  • Maintain organized and fully documented Underwriting Files and maintain database on specific deals.
  • Assist in the crafting of the DUS Narratives for submission to Chief Underwriter.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for ensuring that the underwriting team goals and initiatives are completed in a timely manner and needed resources are available to accomplish results.
  • Work with Asset Management, Production, Closing and others as appropriate to closely monitor the performance and help develop and regularly refine benchmarks and metrics for evaluating the performance of the portfolio.
  • Communicate and problem-solve daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, often in combination with travel
  • Other skills related to building a career in Underwriting!

The Education And Experience We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business or Finance Degree preferred).
  • Previous experience within the real estate industry is preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the history and function of Fannie Mae, Fannie Mae DUS, and DUS Lenders.
  • Able and willing to travel overnight up to 25%.
